    Hey all,

When Hide My Site is deactivated or deleted, it will no longer run on your site, effective immediately. However, some sites have a caching system whereby old versions of the site continue to be shown to site visitors. This means that even though you have deactivated/deleted a plugin from your site, the cached (older) version of your page might still be shown to your visitors – and that older version of the page can be from a time when you still had the plugin active on your site.

If you are using a caching plugin that you know of, try going to the caching plugin settings and clear the cache on your site.

Many times users think they have cleared all the cache, however in the end it turns out there is some cached version of their page that is still being served to site visitors. Oftentimes cached pages are served automatically via your web host, and many users are not aware of the fact that their web host does this.

You might try sending your web host a message and ask if they use an auto-caching feature on your site.

I hope that this will be able to help clear up the issue for you. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,
    Justin

    Hi?@ratamatcat,

Google analytics would work normally on the front end of your site for those who have access to the front end and know the password – so for those users who come in and look around, you will be able to view them in google analytics?as usual.?

Oftentimes cached pages are served automatically via your web host, and many users are not aware of the fact that their web host does this. You mentioned your site is hosted on GoDaddy Managed WordPress – according to their documentation you should be able to clear your site cache by logging in to your WP admin, then at the top of the page, select Managed WordPress > Flush Cache

You also might try sending your web host (GoDaddy) a message and ask if they use an auto-caching feature on your site.

I hope that this will be able to help clear up the issue for you. Please let me know if you have any questions and feel free to reach out to me direct via my email info[at]clevelandwebdeveloper[dot]com.

    Hi @okit247,

Hope all is well with you.

To clarify – it sounds like you want to trigger your custom code to run when the plugin settings page is updated/saved. Is that correct?

That’s correct. Though technically Google (and other search engines) will still be able to visit your site, your content will be hidden from the search index because all Google (and other search engines) will be able to see when they go to your website, and any page on your website, will be the login page.

    Hi Oneminuteblues,

This type of problem is the result of a caching issue.
When the plugin is deactivated or deleted, it will no longer run on your site, effective immediately. However, some sites have a caching system whereby old versions of the site continue to be shown to site visitors. This means that even though you have deactivated/deleted a plugin from your site, the cached (older) version of your site might still be shown to your visitors – and that older version of the site can be from a time when you still had the plugin active on your site.

Often times cached pages are served automatically via your web host, and many users are not aware of the fact that their web host does this.
If you are using wpengine (or a different host that auto-caches) try reaching out and ask if they can clear your cache for you.

Some times it takes a few hours after users take the above steps to notice the change. In this case, you should also clear your browser cache (though clearing your browser cache would only be effective after taking the above steps).

If you would like extra help with clearing the cache on your site, please feel free to message me direct justin[at]clevelandwebdeveloper[dot]com and I can try and provide further assistance.

    Best,
    Justin
