    Hi webfactoria,

    Even when active, Hide My Site doesn’t make any changes to htaccess or reroute any URLs. It also does not make any changes to the code in any of your other WordPress files.

    When Hide My Site is deactivated, it will no longer run on your site, effective immediately.

    However, some sites have a caching system whereby old versions of the site continue to be shown to site visitors. This means that even though you have deactivated/deleted a plugin from your site, the cached (older) version of your page might still be shown to your visitors – and that older version of the page can be from a time when you still had the plugin active on your site.

    It could be that your site is partially trying to run an older, cached version of your site – from when Hide My Site used to be active. Since Hide My Site is in fact no longer active on your site, this could be why your site is breaking since the plugin is in reality no longer active and available to be used.

    Many times users think they have cleared all the cache, however in the end it turns out there is some cached version of their page that is being served to site visitors. Often times cached pages are served automatically via your web host, and many users are not aware of the fact that their web host does this.

    If you are using wpengine (or a different host that auto-caches) try reaching out and ask if they can clear your cache for you. If you are not sure if your web host auto-caches, try sending your webhost a message and ask if they use an auto-caching feature on your site.

    Hopefully this will be able to help clear up the issue for you. If not, feel free to email me direct via justin[at]clevelandwebdeveloper[dot]com and I can try and look more into this for you directly.

    Best,
    Justin

    Hi ibowden,

    This seems like a problem with the All In One WP Migration plugin itself.

    If Hide My Site has been deleted from the parent site, then the newly cloned child site should mirror that and Hide My Site should be removed from there as well.

    Perhaps the All In One WP Migration plugin is using a cached version of the parent site when it creates the child site? Because I’m not overly familiar with how All In One WP Migration works, it’s hard for me to say exactly.

    Hopefully this issue has cleared up for you by now. If not, feel free to email me direct via justin[at]clevelandwebdeveloper[dot]com and I can try and look more into this issue for you directly.

    @jlbrandes,

    Just sent you an email directly (WordPress doesn’t like their forums being used for support related to paid add-ons). Check your inbox.

    If you prefer shorter than one day, you can enter decimals. Some examples…
    For 12 hours, enter: .5
    For one hour, enter: .042
    For 30 minutes, enter: .021

    If someone was on the site while it expired, it would ask them for the password when they go to the next page.

    There’s no way to do that at the moment – it sounds like a good idea though and I appreciate the feedback.

    Thank you,

    Hi brendamcalpine,

    Yes you are still able to access the Spacer WYSIWYG button and use it as normal – you just need to select the “Classic” block from within Gutenberg.

    We are also currently exploring the idea of adding an additional Spacer plugin block within Gutenberg, though this has not yet been finalized.

    Thank you,

    Hi Webzzz,

    Sorry about that it wasn’t clear to me from your initial post that you were asking specifically for the ability to make the plugin responsive automatically. I appreciate the feedback and will look into incorporating your request into a future update.

    Thank you,

    Hi Webzzz,

    There’s actually a blog post that shows how this can be done: How to make Hide My Site responsive

    Hi Pepijn,

    You should be able to access the password via the Hide My Site settings page in your WordPress admin https://www.pepijnkoopman.nl/wordpress/wp-admin

    Hi Jperez,

    In visiting your site via the link you provided, it looks like you are using a different plugin on your website (the login page on your site is not one created by Hide My Site).

    My advice would be to reach out to the plugin author for whichever plugin you are using, and see if he/she can provide further assistance.

    Best,
    Justin

    @dev299,

    I am guessing that this problem already cleared up for you, but just an FYI for you and in case other users encounter this in the future, here is a summary of the situation and what you can do about it…

    This issue is the result of page caching.

    If you are using wpengine (or a different host that auto-caches) you can try reaching out and ask if they can clear your cache for you.

    Also if you are using a caching plugin, try clearing the site cache via the plugin settings page.

    Some times it takes a few hours after users take the above steps to notice the change. In this case, you should also clear your browser cache (though clearing your browser cache would only be effective after taking the above steps)

    @dthaete88,
    Try the instructions above, then give it a couple hours to see if the changes take effect. If not feel free to message me direct justin[at]clevelandwebeveloper[dot]com
