In reply to: [Reviews Block for Google] Won't render on pageThanks for the update Matt. I appreciate it. Do you think it would work if I created a plugin that added a widgetized area prior to the start of the page builder part of the page?

2. How was it possible for username to get out to the public domain?
A LOT of plugins post the author username to the codebase on your website, despite you giving the author a nickname in WordPress settings. If you are the website admin, AND you entered all of the content for the site, (say a testimonial through plugin, portfolio, any custom post type really, or a traditional post), then your username is out there. I have found it on a site I built, when I noticed a blocked login attempt with a correct username, mine.
The fix is simple if you have the knowledge to use phpMyAdmin or mySQL. In the users table their is a field known as “user_nicename” which defaults to the username. This can be changed to whatever you like without effecting login credentials.
Another option is a plugin. I haven’t attempted this option so I can’t say how well it works or ease of use. It does have decent reviews and active development though.

Hope this helps, I know I was surprised when someone “guessed” the correct username. They didn’t guess, they looked. Now they can’t.

I have been having the same issue. In the last 24 hours, one low traffic site running Wordfence blocked 600+ login attempts. I have the attempts at 2, the logins are coming from tons of IP’s.
Enough is enough, I just completed the moving process of the login URL on site 1 and no emails for the last 30 minutes. Literally, they were coming constantly.
This is the plugin I am trying, which is in active development. It just adds a rule to the .htaccess file, changeing the location. Pretty simple, it seems the plugin shouldn’t be needed with properly written code for .htaccess but I didn’t try that for time concerns.
Just thought I would share an option that is working for me so far. I’m not the author or an affiliate either, just a happy user.

In reply to: [Customizr] Smooth ScrollI was never able to replicate his use on my site. I no longer use Customizr on my site either, so I can’t guarantee this will work…

I use this plugin on other sites that I want to add that functionality to. It works every time. I’m sure in some instances it will cause conflicts though. If you test it on your theme, doing so locally would probably be wise to start with.
I have been running this plugin without the update for several versions due to this struggle. That last comment worked for me though. Even after registering the free version of views, no update possible. Then I deactivated, performed the update, and then reactivated. It worked! Finally after a couple months. Give it a shot if you still can’t update.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Unexpected behaviour when using a comma in the post titleGuys,
The “green dot” doesn’t mean anything. It is purely for our reference. It is a teaching aid to get us to create SEO content. Just because the plugin isn’t catching this doesn’t mean that your keyword doesn’t exist in that position. Use the green dot as more of a guide. Is it yellow without that one keyword instance? If so, you know that you would be green if it caught this keyword. Thus, your page is optimized well, despite the color of a button on the plugin. You have to remember that except for the meta stuff that the plugin takes care of, the plugin isn’t doing your SEO. It is simply teaching us how to. Know that google will strip that comma and read your keyword.

In reply to: [Customizr] Conflict with WordPress SEO by YoastNikeo,
I have been exploring this pretty heavily for the last couple days. I posted the problem to Yoast, but I firmly believe this is a theme issue because thorough testing resulted in only this theme replicating my issue. I will post below exactly what I posted to Yoast. I hope we can figure this out.

Hello,I know this forum isn’t the best place for answers to non paid users of the plugin. I am still going to post this, as it may be the same problem others are having without knowing it. I am using the Customizr theme. I use the plugin on every site I develop, but in this installation, I am noticing a quirk.
Recently, I searched my field in my area (web design Oshkosh, WI). I always use Google Chrome, and I always use Google’s search engine. I noticed that it was displaying my “site name” instead of the SEO title that I entered into the plugin. Curious, I opened Firefox, and went to google. The results were as they should be, my proper SEO title in SERP’s. The same went for Internet Explorer. Irritated, I opened Bing and Yahoo in all browsers. In every instance, my titles and meta descriptions were working with 1 exception. Google Chrome browser with the Google search engine resulted in the plugin directives not being followed. I don’t have iPhone or iPad, but my Android phone rendered the same results. Only the Chrome browser with Google’s search engine was ignoring my input.
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It is killing my SEO chances in Chrome with Google. To me, this seems like the most popular combination for someone to use. And yes, I was logged out and had cleared my cache before testing. And, the directives entered into the plugin are not “new”, the same info has been there for months.
To be clear:
Browsers tested (all latest build):
Chrome
Firefox
Safari
Android Browser
Internet Explorer
OperaAll were tested with each search engine:
Google
Yahoo
BingI would love to hear any input. I also have mentioned this to the theme editor. Thanks Joost!

In reply to: [Customizr] Conflict with WordPress SEO by YoastI did scour the plugin support page too. Many people are having issues but most are just rookie things. I have been using this plugin for some time. It is definitely behaving differently for some reason in this installation. I just need to narrow down why. There is one box I didn’t try…”force rewrite titles” under the titles and meta tab. I just didn’t have the marbles to try it given the explanation under the checkbox. Could that work?

In reply to: [Customizr] Conflict with WordPress SEO by YoastJust wondering if you may have come up with anything? You do recommend this SEO plugin and it’s by far the best. Why is it behaving poorly in this theme?

In reply to: Help me pick a new theme with suggestionsAlan,
I just stumbled on this while reading a comment you left on a “facebook” plugin. It wasn’t created by facebook as you commented. Actually how I found this is that plugin was created by automattic. That is neither here nor there.
I am commenting because your theme certainly can acquire the look you seek. They are portraying their “more” section in 3 columns. Your’s are all stacked on one. Some simple css modifications to your child theme style.css file will do the trick. This way you don’t have to learn a new theme. Customizr has a lot to offer, also written by a great WordPress guru. If you like, I could line them up 6 wide on bigger screens! Hit me up if you are interested. [redacted] –also on customizr!–
