How could using a custom 404 page cause permalinks to work?

Well I’m hoping a GD support person will visit and verify if the new grid hosting will support MSFT URL Rewrite or not. I’ve been told not and that it is only available on their legacy systems meaning they don’t support WP well on the new grid systems. Please tell me I’m wrong and permalinks are supported on the new grid hosting.

Anyone have any recent experience with this at GoDaddy? It does not seem they support MSFT URL Rewrite on their new hosting stuff. Can anyone at GD verify or offer a reason why they would not support this? Thanks.

Thanks henkholland but no, I’m wanting an email when someone posts to THIS forum in a thread I’m interested in or have posted to. Is THAT possible? Thanks!

Are you using legacy windows hosting or the new grid windows hosting? I was told by GD support today that Microsoft URL Rewrite only worked on legacy so permalinks therefore only worked on legacy and not the new grid hosting for windows. Can someone verify this one way or the other? I also need windows for other reasons so would like to get a good WP install on Windows. Thanks, Dave

What the deal with the new grid vs. legacy hosting? I was told by GoDaddy support that only the legacy hosting would support fancy/permalink urls and that grid would not. Anyone else have any experience with this???
