In reply to: [3rd Party Authentication] [Plugin: 3rd Party Authentication] Plugin broken? No problem, Gabriel. This setup does allow you to have both WP users AND Google Apps users. This can be configured on the plugin’s settings page, which can be accessed in the Settings Group in the left-hand column of the WP-Admin Console.
You can also go directly there with this link (change mydomain.com to your domain): https://mydomain.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=3rd-party-authentication/3rd-party-authentication.php
Now, just make sure “Allow regular logins?” is checked and save the settings.
Google Apps users have their WP username be their Google Apps email address and can be admin created (since your family is probably a small group) or auto-created through the “Auto create users?” plugin setting.
WP users have a regular WP username and can be created by admin or self-subscribed as normal for a WP blog.

In reply to: [3rd Party Authentication] [Plugin: 3rd Party Authentication] Plugin broken?Hi Gabriel,
I had this issue when I first installed the plugin as well. The plugin is very good, but the official documentation is virtually non-existent.
The problem you’re encountering means that all usernames in WordPress must be email addresses. For instance, If you have a WordPress user johnsmith that you want to authenticate against Google Apps (for mydomain.com), change their WordPress username to [email protected] (my Google Apps email address).
I’ve documented my experiences with this plugin and how I got it working at
https://codyaray.com/2010/08/wordpress-authentication-via-google-appsThis includes this problem and solution in more detail, among others you might encounter as well.
Stick with it, it’s worth it, and good luck!
