Hi Jacob,

This really is exactly what I’ve been asking for – it will make a difference to my members.

However, I’ve been testing this today and get an error following uploading a photo, following the confirmation popup box the screen moves to a blank white screen with the following

— Please select a photo —
Photo w#id (test)

When I attempted to recover from this by tabbing back a page and re-clicking on the Camera it didn’t show the new photo. I refreshed the discussion webpage and clicked the Camera again and this time it worked.

Maybe there is something I need to do.

Hi Jacob,

I’ve installed 6.7.08 and have the use of shortcode enabled in Table IX-L1

I can see the camera icon and the functionality in WordPress Posts, which works, but not in the BBPRESS forum page. Is there a setting somewhere I need to set to enable this to work in BBPRESS Forums Topics and Replies ?

Also, wasn’t it possible to have the upload functionality included, so that it could be called a the point a member wants to insert a photo into a discussion Topic or Reply and store it in their gallery for future reference at the same time. Just asking as that would make a massive difference to how members use the site and remove the marjority of complaints/feedback I get from members.

Have you had time to think about this request yet.

I’m being asked constantly by my members to have a function that allows them to add a photo to the forum discussion (using BBPRESS) that stores the photo in their album for future reference/use.

There seems to be a growing feeling of discontent with the way they currently use my site which is to upload a photo to their album and then use the [photo 123] shortcode to added it to the discussion thread.

Members simply want to click a button while in the discussion topic, that allows them to upload a photo direct into the discussion. Without this functionality on my website I’m loosing members and content to other Facebook style discussion websites.

Hi Jacob,

I think the default option should be that they can only select their own photos. That way the list of photos will be small for them to scroll through.

A nice to have, if technically possible, would be for the user to see an option (within the insert photo routine) to open the list to see all members photos but the list reverts back to just their photos next time they use it)

I have just sent you an email with the log in details to my development site. If you venture to the Gallery page, and then choose a different page of photos you will see the thumbnails all appear but the Photo owner detail is missing.

I did notice that the selection limit is 1000 – sometime in the future depending on how successful my website is I may come back and ask you to raise that limit.

I’ve the latest version installed, which I think is 6.6.13 and I can’t see this feature – am I missing something and do I have to enable a setting to enable it ?

This all works now – thanks for this.

One thought, would be to create a routine similar to ” Table VIII-B4 to implement standard Name for all the existing photos. I’ve gone through everyone’s albums manually to do this, but others may find it useful nice to have

Dev version all loaded up.

The w#id function is working great in the Photo Name, leaving the description available. Thanks.

The [photo 123] function is working, but has an unexpected result. It seems to always want to place the photo at the bottom of the Topic or Reply box.

So if you put [photo 989] then some text underneath it, when it is saved the text goes to the top of the box and the photo sits on the bottom (located left,centre,right as per instruction in settings).

Also if [photo 1234] is the only thing in the Topic/Reply box, on saving a big empty box is created with the photo in the bottom of it and blank space above it.

I’m sure members can live with it, unless you can spot why it is doing this.
