They tell me this:

As I understand it, there is a problem with accessing the .well-known folder. Note that .htaccess rewrites will not work because the request is served directly from the Nginx service. Our configuration implementation for the .well-known directory allows us to complete different system tasks such as the validation process during the issuance of Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates, for example.

I’m afraid we can’t make changes to the above configuration. You should check with plugin support if it is possible to use a custom directory instead of .well-known as this will not work with our current configuration.

Oh, bad news then. Is there anything I could tell to the tech support so they stop blocking it? Any technical recommendation?

I guess they do that for security reasons but maybe there is a way to allow it just for ActivityPub.

Nah, it doesn’t work either… The RewriteEngine is on by default with the Siteground Optimizer plugin so it should work out of the box but it doesn’t.

As ActivityPub is already a canon I think they must have an idea how to solve it. I’ll pass the hot potatoe to their hands and see if there is any response.

Hi! After the launch today of the 1.0 version of the plugin I was hoping this would be solved. I use Siteground hosting as well and my site https://comunicacionabierta.net has exactly the same issue as you all mention.

Look, here https://jardin.cc/clave/jardines-digitales/ is the page of the tag archive (I called it clave) and its title is “Jardines digitales”.
If you use the search button and write down “Jardines digitales” it looks for posts that make part of that tag but not the archive page.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Tim! I’m really looking at understanding better OpenID as I think it’s the best solution for a project I’m working at: a network of distributed sites where the users don’t need to create a new user to enter in any of them.
I was also doing some research about ActivityPub but I think that has to do more with the content and conversation.
I think I really need OpenID so the users, whoever, can log in into a site with an identity from other place. I liked the idea of WordPress.com as the sites are made on WordPress. I wouldn’t like Google or Facebook for example. What would you recommend?
