In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Is Slimstat really GDPR Friendly?Hi @kjetilk,
Yes, Slimstat includes fingerprinting to track users more accurately than just relying on IP address and user agent. It can be turned off, if the site admin needs to comply with privacy regulation in their Country.
However, keep in mind that this information is not shared with anyone outside the website where the plugin itself is installed. Unlike Facebook’s pixel and other social media tools, that take your fingerprint with the purpose of tracking your movements across the web, Slimstat uses this technique just to increase its accuracy. It was first implemented a few years ago after we received a request from a research group who was analyzing user behaviors on their University website, and needed a reliable way to identify these users, to have accurate data for their research.
If your concern is that Slimstat monetizes this information and sells visitors data, please rest assured that this is not the case, and on the contrary, we pride ourselves with providing one of the most privacy-friendly analytics tools available on the market.
I hope this answers your questions.
Jason

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] 403 Rest error if WP dashboard has different addressWe don’t have any caching plugins on this website. Just Akismet, WordFence and yours. I tried logging in and out a few times, but the outcome was the same.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] New dev ?Hi @juliengarrigue, thank you for asking. I would like to take a moment to thank all of you who have reached out to me, the outpouring of messages has been beyond overwhelming. I’ve been working to transfer ownership of code and copyrights to other volunteers, and I’m happy to announce that the wait is over! VeronaLabs, the team behind one of the most popular analytics plugins for WordPress, WP Statistics, has agreed to take over and continue the development of this plugin. I will stick around for a while, mostly as a gentle presence out of public view. So please join me in welcoming Mostafa Soufi and his team as the new maintainers of Slimstat Analytics. Thank you for stepping forward!

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] What is the Unique IPs?Hi @softfully, when a visitor comes to your website, a timer is associated to him/her to calculate how many pageviews were generated within a SESSION. A session can be 30 minutes from the FIRST pageview or it can 30 minutes FROM the last pageview, based on that setting. I hope this helps.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Slimstat WP Cerber Plugin ConflictHi @vumediagroup,
I’m thinking about adding support for the REST API, but that’s still a few months away from being implemented. Please keep me posted.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Slimstat WP Cerber Plugin ConflictHi @vumediagroup,
could you look at the network activity in the developer tools to see what’s happening? Slimstat’s tracker sends data back to the server after the page loads, to record that specific pageview. It sounds like WP Cerber is intercepting that request as suspicious, thus preventing Slimstat from doing its job. I am afraid there’s not much I can do on my end to solve this issue, if it’s WP Cerber causing it. But I’m more than happy to work with the other plugin’s devs to give them as much info as possible to figure things out. Keep me posted.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] What is the Unique IPs?Hi @acon,
good question. In short, each visitor is associated to a given IP address, however that same visitor could come back to your website multiple times throughout the day, generating let’s say 10 page views. However, the Unique IP report will still say 1, because all the pageviews are associated to the same IP address. This is useful to understand how many “different visitors” you get within a time range (even though there are other more accurate ways to measure that, these days).
I hope this helps,

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] About the viewing privileges at the multi-siteGreat, thank you!
It looks like something went wrong during the installation and one of the core files is missing for some reason. Could you try reinstalling it (just overwrite all the files, no need to uninstall/install from the dashboard, or you might lose your data).
Jason
Hi,
are you using the latest version of the plugin from the Github repo by any chance? Could you give me some more info about your server environment?
Thank you,
JasonForum: Plugins
In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] About the viewing privileges at the multi-siteYes, that would work, but you will need to do that on each individual site, unless you use the add-on we provide for this purpose. Contact our support team for more info on getting the add-on: support.wp-slimstat.com
Thank you,
Jason
