I just uninstalled Silverlight in an attempt to force Flash instead, and it worked. Reinstalled silverlight, and again, it was broken.

Which got me to thinking that that so far this will be the first ever thing to run as a silverlight application on this webserver… so I probably need to add some mime types.

So, I added the correct types, restarted iis,

    and success!!

They can use the browser upload button, but that adds another step to a process that will already be new and difficult for many of them. Worst case scenario I can deal with that… It isn’t the end of the world, but as you said, I’d like to know why it won’t work.

I just downloaded chrome and it works fine there. I’m frantically searching for anyone else with this issue and I’ve found this thread but it isn’t too helpful.

I can’t see any errors in my browser either. I’m also one of those poor souls that is running this on IIS on a windows 2003 server.

Then can anyone help me understand why my Select Files button is disabled? I can see it, but clicking does nothing.

After reading through some of the information from when 3.3 was released, I was under the impression that only older versions of IE wouldn’t be supported. It won’t work in IE9 period?

Not even the Select Files button?

    It’s 0.9.9.2

My main issue is the inability to manage categories. With all of the different things going on in our county courthouse, breaking down calendar events by color coded categories is a big deal for us.

I also cannot see a color picker on the category screen, and I’ve read there is supposed to be one. All I see is the number of the category, the category name, a place to input a hex color, Update and Delete. I can get by without a color picker, but other, less tech savvy users don’t know what a hex code is. Regardless, I’m not too concerned about this issue. Not a real concern for me.

My only other issue is that when I pull up a page with the calendar on it, the “Loading Events…” black box stays onscreen. Again, this is something I can live with if need be. I saw another user a few weeks ago was having this same problem.

Again, thanks for the help on this.

    I’m running MySQL.

At this very moment, I have every plugin disabled and I’m using theme Twenty Eleven and I still cannot add categories in Internet Exlporer 8 and Firefox 3.6.3.

I’m using PHP 5.3 and WordPress 3.2.1. The only difference between my setup and most others is probably that I’m using Windows Server 2003, and that’s the only piece of the puzzle I cannot change.

What, if anything, can I do from here?

I tried changing the theme to Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven and it didn’t make a difference.

I also looked around the forums here and saw another post from a few weeks ago with someone having the “Loading Events…” black box staying on screen when viewing the calendar. I’m having that issue as well. I don’t know if it is related, but that particular thread was never resolved, so I don’t know what’s causing it.

To throw a little more wood on the fire, I wanted to mention that I just set all of this up a few weeks ago. I’m running WordPress on Windows Server 2003 with PHP 5.3.

I looked over the PHP log and didn’t see anything related to the Event Calendar. There were plenty of other entries for other errors though.

I do appreciate your help on this. I’m the webmaster for a local county government in Kansas. We’re currently using a site I created from scratch when I started a few years ago with the intention of moving to a CMS one day. We were using Google Calendar for all of our county events and appointments, and we all hated the idea of our calendar information being on a third party website.

Now that I’ve finally been able to move us onto WordPress, the idea of having the calendar integrated with the site is welcome by everyone… Things have been going great except for this category issue.

I was curious if I created a temporary admin account for you, would you be willing to check out my site to help me nail this issue down?

Ok, just got done deacvtivating my plugins one at a time and trying the Event Calendar again. It still won’t work for me. Where do I go from here?

Would someone care to take a look at my site?

I’ve tried a little tinkering with the debugger in IE and with Firebug in Firefox, but I’m just not sure what I’m looking for on this. I’ve never had to chase down a javascript error before.

I’m not seeing any errors come up when I try adding categories. As I said though, I don’t know what I’m looking for. For all I know, I’m not using the debugger properly (I’m about 99% sure I’m not).

If it makes any difference, my theme is Mflat 1.1.3 (seems like a fairly straightforward little theme). I have the following plugins installed: Ajax Event Calendar, AStickyPostOrderER, Contact Form 7, Easy Table Creator, ICIT Weather Widget, Really Simple CAPTCHA, Sidebar Login, Simple Expires, Widget Logic, and WP Post Sorting.

If anyone would be so kind as to hold my hand through this, that would be great.

Edit: Just wanted to add, it doesn’t look like a theme issue. Same thing happens with other themes I’ve tried. I guess I can start disabling/re-enabling plugins until I find which one is causing a problem.
