To anyone interested, I’ve discovered what causes the problem I’ve been having. It suddenly dawned on me that a couple of days ago I’d been looking at the Woocommerce->Products page, and I happened to notice that the ‘Shop Page’ had a peculiar entry I did not recognize. It definitely wasn’t a shop page I’d created or designated. Since it made no sense, I changed that entry to be my homepage (i.e. Home), since I think of my whole site as basically my shop. For some bizarre reason, that is what messed up the home page.

Fwiw, I tested this by changing the Shop Page entry to several other pages, even a simple product page, and each one in turn would be messed up, as if somehow all the underlying code for that page was converted to text, which then would show up a raw code visible on the page. As soon as I changed the entry to some other page, every page cleared up and returned to normal.

The solution, for now, is to simply leave the ‘Shop Page’ entry blank. Everything appears to work fine with that. But for the life of me, I cannot imagine what underlying effect or changes Woocommerce does to a page just by naming it as the ‘shop page’. !@#$…good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions… at the time I finally rebuilt the home page and it seemed to be fine again, until now. In the last couple of days, the same thing has started again, so I’ve posted a new topic explaining the issue again, and if anyone sees this older one then please look for my new topic as of 7/22/23.
