In reply to: Unable to login to website after making a change to site titleThanks for the prompt reply.
No error messages at all but I just managed to login to PHP
admin to change the password and email address. Found the instructions on this site.I’m now wondering if the problem was caused by the installation of Rapport banking software and have disabled it.
All working fine now.

In reply to: How to delete database and assign newIf I used the duplicator again, it would work OK but I would have to completely wipe out the sites and re-install in to empty folders

In reply to: How to delete database and assign newI backed up the previous site using FULL backup which I thought would be bullet proof, only to find it cannot be restored within cPanel for some reason. Duplicator seems much easier and reliable.

In reply to: How to delete database and assign newSorry, thought because I was successful installing site 1 and it WAS working OK for a day, might be able to recover it. Site 2 is no problem as I have only just done it and can re run the duplicator package again.
If there was a go back button I would be OK!
I still have the duplicator package for site 1 so could use that again (just lose todays work)Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to delete database and assign newI’m more confused about using the one database. It was all OK until I changed hosting and screwed it up when I installed the second site using duplicator plug in and assigned the same database as the first site.
Previously I had 4 ad-on domains and had assigned a separate database to each site and that worked OK.
When I click on various bits of site 1 it brings up bits of site 2 and vice versa, a bit embarrassing!
I’m not confident enough to make database changes/edit the file without clear instructions. Tried both links sent and even copy/pasted in to my browser but wont work.
Thanks everyone for your patience.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to delete database and assign newThanks really appreciate your help but the link will not work, having a really bad day nothing is working!

In reply to: how to insert a meta tag in to WordPress home pageThanks very much, I had tried a html page editor but could not see the header bit. I can now see it’s in the theme and good advice about losing all mods if theme upgraded!

In reply to: Back end and front end, where is it stored? Thanks Phil for the fast response! thought it would be unusual to be on the WordPress site but could not understand the password reset bit.
I’ll follow the link and read further. So the files I was expecting to see in cPanel file manager are actually in the database and not viewable without logging in to the backend/admin.
It’s a brilliant system!
Forum: Localhost Installs
In reply to: Multiple installations help?Newbie. Having similar problems, cannot see a simple way to run multiple sites/installs.Then further problems when going from local installs to live site.
Is it just easier to develop a live site using a “junkdomain.com”. When the site if functional, use the duplicator plugin to copy it to “mynewdomain.com” ? Then use the old site as a template for the next new site?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: wordpress instant crash, wont work after restoring wp-contentThis has got me thinking about some other issues, like security and the being unable to change the username from admin (but I see there is a plugin for it). If I used instantwp, then duplicated it to my host, effectively I don’t have a genuine wordpress installation so need to decide whether to continue duplicating or start a new site.

In reply to: wordpress instant crash, wont work after restoring wp-contentThanks, had not realised that, just checked and it’s instantwp.com
I will now work on live sites using a test domain then use the duplicator plugin to move it across to the correct domain. Now I know how the duplicator works, it’s a few minutes job and a brilliant program.

In reply to: wordpress instant crash, wont work after restoring wp-contentThanks but it was running on WordPress INSTANT, on my local PC and probably did not shut down correctly. The files backed up may be OK for restoring a hosted installation but not for the Instant site I guess.
I had previously used the Duplicator Plugin and managed to get a copy back from there.
