Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: You do not have sufficient permissionsthanks esmi, had a look at that thread and not sure that I follow there appears to be a few different issues that users have had to deal with.
In my case it was a brand new install of 2.8 via cp addon scripts (my host cpanel doesn’t have fantastico)and I’m unable to do anything with it because if I try to go to find a theme I’m shown the upgrade to 3.0 bar and then I get the “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page”So I’m not sure if the issue could be a file didn’t load properly on the install or from other threads a possibility of issues with the hosting co’s settings?
I will try to uninstall and re install WP again – any thoughts?

In reply to: trouble after changing serversI have a bad feeling that pages and posts may be located on the server database rather than in the wordpress files – Can anyone confirm this for me?

In reply to: trouble after changing serversHave managed so far to activate the theme but can not get existing posts and pages.
Can anyone tell me where these are located so I can see if they have loaded into the new file structure?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: trouble after changing serversoops shouldn’t have done that – I followed the prompt and completed the install and now the browser shows a clean install blog.
When I check the files with the FTP my uploaded files are all in place however the install doesn’t seem to call them up.
any ideas?
thanks,

Think I’ve found the problem if not the solution – I changed themes and the problem went away. Don’t know if this is a common issue but guess I’ll just have to try a few different themes until i get one that works and that I like. I assume thats they way you go about it.
Seems like with a lot of themes they appear ok but when you try to validate the code there are errors. is it normal to report these back to the theme developer?
Cheers

In reply to: wordpress XHTML not compliant??Had a further play with this and found that it must be theme related. I changed themes ( away from wordpress default) and the database error is gone and on top of that it validates as compliant xhtml which is what start this in the begining.
So from that i would assume there is either a code error in the original wordpress theme or an error during install in the theme area.
thanks heaps for you help guys. I’m going to find another theme I can work with and go from there.

In reply to: wordpress XHTML not compliant??Thanks for that, the databse error seems like a good place to start. I’m new to this so sorry if I appear stupid.
Assume I will have to go into the database files on my server and try to locate the code with the error?
Is that right.

Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to see all code in a post?
