There was actually there. Though its now complaining about line 233 which reads:

Failed to save options

so no white space.

Sorry, I didnt think to try it until I had posted, just edited the post but you beat me to it.

I just tried the emergency reset…that hung aswell.
I suppose this isnt a wordpress fault, but something else as it seems to be email related.
The good news is that I can access the admin panel now, and the password reset at least managed to do its job before it got stuck.

It does sound like its hanging as it tries to send the email, as that would fit everything that is happening.
Unfortunately, I can not reset my password, as I have no password to get into the admin panel in the first place.
Seems a bit of a catch 22 situation…

EDIT:
sorry, I was a little lazy. I just read further down the password reset page. I tried resetting through phpMyAdmin, but to no-avail. It just said incorrect password.
