Found the culprit. It was the Booster for Woocommerce plugin I have!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Ah good advice. Will try it now.
I’ve cloned the site to another environment completely so can test this without affecting production environment.

Yes I believe this is the default WC Block. When I choose to add the block, I choose the WooCommerce tab and there are 17 to choose from, including Recent Products, Sale Products, Product Categories etc.

I’ve tried it in troubleshooting mode with other plugins disabled but still get the same results.

Can’t think of anything I’ve changed that has caused this behaviour. And its literally been the last 2 days that its occured. Prior to this, its been returning the latest products correctly.

All of my products have been imported using WP All Import Pro.

Some of the categories are 4 level deep in the hierarchy.

What is the default sort can I ask? Is it not by Category Name?

I found this bit of code to add to functions.php which sorts it on the shop pages. Not the menu though.

I’ve got WP Memory Limit = 1GB and PHP Post Max Size = 10MB.

Is this sufficient?

I gave it a try last night (after backing up of course), and it seemed to do the trick.

It delete the number of categories that I expected it to.
