In reply to: Local server problem with 2.7Ok shameless bump for this one, sorry everyone.
I can’t go much further with my site now until I get this sorted and I’ve tried everything I can find on Google and WP.
There is a sticky on uploader issues but this doesn’t appeared to be covered.
Surely someone knows the answer!
Thanks

In reply to: Local server problem with 2.7Thanks for the reply,
It is pointing to wp-content/uploads in the settings, but the folder didn’t exist.
I created it, yet it still displays the ‘missing temporary folder’ error.

In reply to: Completely confused… advice and moral support requiredThanks for the replies both.
I had in fact been working through the Codex area you mention Whooami but I think a step by step like the one LenK mentioned will help me better.
The Codex is fantastic don’t get me wrong, but I am completely new to theme development and the tutorial on Small Potato seems a good place to start.
Thanks again to both of you and Happy Holidays!

In reply to: You have got to be kidding me!!!!!?WordPress: 5 Minute Install
I host numerous servers, IIS, SQL, Exchange.
One of these statements is untrue. I know where my money would be.
I’m a novice with php and mySQL and while the 5 minute installation in fact took me about 7 or 8, I certainly found the instructions clear enough to use as a beginner.
It’s unfortunate you came into WordPress with the attitude you did, and I’m surprised you received the relatively calm responses you did. Congrats to all those who managed to keep their cool with this guy.

In reply to: WordPress newb, advice would be fantastic and much appreciated! Thanks for the reply and the links.
It’s good to know it’s all possible and the plugins section does indeed look like it will contain things I will need.
As for the text editor, I’m a big fan of Coda. I tend to stay away from DreamWeaver ;p
