I checked the logs but there weren’t any error messages. I ended up starting from scratch with a new wordpress installation to see if it would work and it did. Then I just added back all of the required themes, plugins, and configs for my site and everything is still working.
I still don’t know what was wrong before but it’s working now and that’s all that matters. Thanks for your response though.

I figured out what was causing this issue. My file permissions weren’t open enough on my wordpress install. I changed files to 644 and folders to 755 and added my user to the default web group. I still can’t get the plugin working but I’ll post my issue in a new thread.
