Knews 1.6.4 works fine with WP 4.0 in our testing webservers and you’re the only reported this issue.

First of all: solve the SMTP configuration, go to Knews > Config > Advanced > Submit method and check the values

The htaccess line overrides the http petition to the webserver to a new one, in your case, I suspect you should remove the web/ in the left of the line, please, try this:

There is the origin of the issue, can do you tell me were you set this base URL for the images?

In the last release (1.6.4) we added a way to add your own custom speed. In your wp-config.php file, add this:

define (‘KNEWS_CUSTOM_SPEED’, x); //where x is emails sent every 10 minutes

Please, activate Knews log into Knews main config options, and check the log after the 2-3 first big sendings
