I think that this is an issue with the theme not using proper WordPress plugin procedure with clear queries:

Now, if I only knew where to add that piece of code…

I am having the same issue. Is there an issue with the way I’m loading it?

This is on a custom genesis theme.

I think it fails because all of the comments are from an outside source, so it doesn’t know how to handle that?

It seems that the blogger account was using Intense Debate and that’s why the comments were not being migrated over.

Same issue here, clicking import does nothing, had to use your recommended plugin.
