In reply to: hack by eval base64 script malwareI’m also getting hammered with this eval base64 hack. Over the weekend been trying various things to try to keep them out.
I deleted all the FTP accounts through my cpanel except one (that I use for my webcam). I’ve installed the Bullet Proof Security plugin, that helps me change permissions on various files to secure values, like the config file to 400. I’ve also installed Exploit Scanner, which identifies the hack, but sometimes it fails to run and I’m not sure why.
The WordPress Security page says to change permissions, but I need it black and white. What files, what numbers. Telling me to give read/write/execute is vague.. I want the numbers please, and the files to secure. So far I have changed the index.php files to 444, which seems to keep them out. Changing permissions too tight makes the blogs uneditable and we can’t have that either. Bullet Proof Security plugin also creates secure .htaccess files.
Been a couple days on a couple blogs and so far they haven’t gotten hacked again using these measures. I’m keeping a close eye. Is this a recent hack problem? It has only hit me within the last month or so. Before that, never had a problem with my wordpress blogs getting hacked.

In reply to: [Register Plus Redux] [Plugin: Register Plus Redux] InvitationsAh okay thanks that makes sense. ??
I’m looking for a plugin where I can send out email invitations to people to come register. I haven’t found anything that I like, or anything that works. I want registrations to remain open, and also be able to invite people to register.

I would love to see this too!
Actually, I was wondering if you could add a feature where you could invite someone to register with the blog. All the invite plugins I’ve seen are not what I want.
I love the email stats on this plug, so seeing a widget where you can invite friends and put in their email and name, and have it point them to the registration page, would be awesome! Thanks!
Ah yup, I am seeing this too. ??

In reply to: upload/insert media issues with 2.7, FF, MacI have this same problem. It’s only on the new blog I just installed a couple of weeks ago. The rest of the WP blogs on my VPS are just fine. I can add media from the media library, but not event he Upload/Insert shows for me.
I was running Gears in FF but I’ve uninstalled it. I also don’t see the Upload/Insert or the associated options in IE. I added the code to .htaccess and still no go.
I would also love to find a solution to this problem.

In reply to: 2.7 add new plugin FTP settingsI tried my telnet login but that didn’t work.. I do not have SSH enabled on my VPS either. ??
I did end up getting the automatic plugin upgrader to work, but I cannot install a new plugin on any of my blogs, it steems. Hrm.
I am already running PHP5.

In reply to: 2.7 add new plugin FTP settingsI have a VPS and four WordPress blogs installed… two of them upload and upgrade just fine, two of them don’t. And I’m pretty confused as to why two do not. The permissions are all set the same.
I don’t have FTP installed on my VPS and I don’t want to install it. And since two work without FTP… I don’t think I need it.
When I click to upgrade the plugins on the two that work.. they just work and do it automatically. The other two ask for FTP information. But since I don’t have FTP on the VPS, entering the information will be pointless!

In reply to: WordPress 2.5 Widget Interface – I don’t like itOh boy.. I’ve been googling trying to find out HOW on earth to move a widget from one column to another in 2.5 This is a pretty awful interface. The old one was so much better. I hope someone comes out with a plugin that’ll make it like 2.3 and earlier.
How do you move widgets from sidebar to sidebar?

In reply to: Permalinks break every few times I post or editI just upgraded to 2.3.1 and suddenly am having this same problem. It is very frustrating.

In reply to: Help: Blank Page After Publish/Save/DeleteI installed WP using Fantastico on my host and I am having the same problem with this installation. I’m also getting errors on another blog I just updated with Fantastico.
The new blog was getting a white blank page after a save of any kind right after the fresh install without any plugins.

In reply to: arg_separator.output and & and &If I type & amp ; into the widget box and save, yes it saves okay and displays okay. However, if I go back in and make any change to any widget, it changes it back for me to just &.. so in essence I’d have to go in and change all & to & amp ; each time I change one tiny thing in one widget. Which really is a pain the rear since I have a lot of links that include that char.
I might look into this validation a bit more… but if it’s too much of a pain I will just give it up.

In reply to: IE/FF difference, how to fix for IEThanks so much for your reply!
These style sheets are confusing me, I just try to learn as I go.I replaced the blogtitle with your, and I moved the title text back into the <h1> tag (it was messing me up before, that’s why I moved it below), and it’s not quite right… but it does look the same in IE and FF.
As you’ll see, I’d prefer to have the logo in the background, and the main content below and just in front.
Thanks, and I hope you’ll not minding looking and helping a bit more! I will leave this up for tonight.
