After some testing, I can confirm that the plugin ONLY logs download events. It doesn’t log when the user plays a podcast through the WP player.

Not sure if this is a bug or a known limitation of the plugin.

I’ve tested with versions 1.1 and 1.0.1 of the stats plugin in conjunction with SSP v1.15.1.

I thought I’d give this plugin another try.

I’ve added some log code to see which functions get called in seriously-simple-stats/includes/class-ssp-stats.php:

__construct, update_database are both called.
track_download is only called when downloading the file. It is never called when playing the file through the WP audio player.

I had a look at the DB and all 52 entries are from the following IP address:
https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/82.80.249.137

This seems to be a bot/crawler from Israel. However unfortunately I still don’t get any stats from playing through the actual website ??

Hi Hugh,

I’m also having problems with the stats on our podcast (https://www.nicosiacf.com/?series=casting-the-truth).

I don’t see ‘podcast-download’ in the url string. e.g. ‘https://www.nicosiacf.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/1999-05-02_JP_I-am-with-you-always.mp3?_=8’

As I am new to WP, Do I have to change something in the WP settings?

I installed the “WP Rollback” plugin and rolled back to the previous version until the problem is fixed.

Hi Hugh,

Basically I believe the problem lies with the latest Spacious Theme and not the SSP plugin. After rolling back to the previous version of the theme, the problem disappeared.

I only got the aforementioned error when trying to view a podcast series (i.e. Archive page). The actual episode pages and podcast feed worked, as well as the rest of the website.
