    Hi there,

Thank you. Yes, the black part is where the page menu is.

I found the section you showed me in the css stylesheet and changed the background from #000 to #0C0 and saved it. (0C0) is a green color which I took from the wiki link you gave me.

However, nothing happened. It’s still black. I shut down and re-started the computer in the hope that that was the problem, but it didn’t help. Do you know where have I gone wrong?

    With thanks

The site is really great, but the pop-up that covers the landing page is off-putting. It gives it a ‘clickbank’ feeling.

    Boyevul,

    Thank you for your input.

    1. That’s the way Twenty-Twenty theme automatically listed them.

    2. They’re there.

    3. I take the point that it is not well organised.

    Cheers,

May I ask what theme you are using?

    Thanks so much for that.

It’s quite encouraging that you give it 7/10. I’d better check the boat history bit though, as it’s not good that it’s so upfront. And I know it needs to be better organized. As I add more posts, the categories don’t really gel.

Good advice too about a professional designer. It’s in the back of my mind.

Thank you very much for your informative reply.

I understand from your reply that google’s seo for webmasters is already incorporated into the wordpress all-in-one plugin. (Apart from the header tags)

I need to look closer at the header tags on my theme so I can understand a bit better about what is going on.

I contacted them and they are working on the problem. I’ll be back on this board if they tell me it’s a wordpress issue!

    thanks for your help.

Thank you. I’ll get onto that now. If it’s wordpress, my host site invariably tell me to bring the problem here. This time I did that first. It’ll be interesting to hear their reply.

    Thanks t-p.

I checked it and deee that it is basically saying I can forget about it.

It doesn’t matter too much if they are not there then. ??

    Esmi,
Seasons greetings to you and thank you for answering my queries.

I don’t know html coding, or rather, I’m at level one in learning html coding, so I can follow your reply up to the point where you say ‘and deleting/renaming your WordPress.htaccess file.’ What do I look for and what name do I give it?

It’s working OK at the moment though.

OK. I found the answer. It was to type /%postname%/ into the custom structure. Now my titles show up in the address bar with the website address.

Thanks for all help. Still can’t figure out how to make SEO work properly though.

    Hi Esmi,
Thanks for the reply. I thought it was the permalinks that I had to ‘custom structure’. I have used the permalinks to create the type of ‘post’ I want to show up in the address bar, but whatever I type into the ‘custome structure’ box just isn’t working. I’ve been typing – https://www.the-boating-store-blog.com/post-title – as soon as it gets ‘saved’ it switches this to /http:/www.the….cetc.

I can’t link to the post titles from another website anymore, so the links are going nowhere.

What do I need to look for in the header.php to change it and what should it be changed to?

I recently switched off all the plugins and reactivated them one by one to see which was responsible for making the posts and pages index look so odd. It was All-in-one SEO and I think it was doing that which made the permalink structure go awry.

I’ve been on to the all in one SEO site looking for answers as to how to correct the error, but didn’t find one. I guess I’ll just have to put up with it the way it is!

    Good advice Esmi,

I will do this and see what happens.

    Thank you

    Hi there,

Sorry, it was my typo mistake. I meant to type 13 px. I changed it to 13 px and 18 px.

    with thanks
