Let’s add on to the list…
Can also no longer set nextgen featured image from page. It is there but almost greyed out and if you click on the letterbox section to choose a gallery, it simply closes itself.
Yup, it’s cross browser. I am using the graphene theme, wordpress 3.9, nextgen 2.0, various plug-ins which I can list as and when.
@ mummihuhn, what are your specs?
There is a cumbersome work-around for now, of ftping image folders, exactly named, to your server (say your uploads folder in wp-content) and then using the folder uploader in add images/gallery in nextgen, which does still work. This will create a new gallery for you and you can copy and move files from there to existing galleries. Once uploaded, you can delete the folder from your server, but it would drive you mad if you had to do it forever!
I am guessing easter and the weekend mean the experts will be back around in the forums on either Monday (though that’s a bank holiday for many) or Tuesday…
I am still here if anybody has any hints!
Have followed all the threads in the forum on the same subject from a few months ago but nothing that has helped me so far…
I’m sorry but while I accept I originally mistermed this in my forum post header, my apologies, I subsequently corrected my mistake and correctly termed it in the follow up above, which you have summarily dismissed.
On my wordpress dashboard, lhs, I refer to gallery, which gives me 8 choices from overview to upgrade to pro. I select other options (no 7) which is after gallery settings (no6). Within other options, there is a choice of 8 further options from image options (1) to reset and uninstall (8), and miscellaneous (7) is the one after roles and capabilities (6). Within miscellaneous, there are 4 choices of which the second choice with yes/no radio button is enable the resource minifier.
Hope you can now find it and would be interested in why this might affect my whole site, as it is part of nextgen gallery.
I was referring to the resource minifier yes/no enable radio button in misc in other options, which combines the css and javascript into one file.
And enabling that caused the whole of the other options page, not just misc, to completely disappear.
I use the graphene theme with a child theme.
For your reference:
Disabling and re-enabling nextgen did not solve things, disabling all plug-ins and then re-nabling one by one isolated that nextgen was causing the site to break and having found this out,re-enabling nextgen for the third time brought back the options page, meaning I could turn off the above radio button and hey presto the site reappeared unbroken.Hope this helps
Problem resolved by disabling all plugn-ins and then re-enabling one by one. Options area re-appeared.
One button never to touch again.
So why did that happen then?

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] WordPress 3.7I will do the update as I really want the ajax pagination for my image browser – I am right in saying this will simply allow the images in the imagebrowser to go forward or back (on navigation), without the need for the whole page to re-load???
…but as you sensibly advise, next week –
Before the update, quick question. Should I replace the edited capabilities.php file with the original or leave it in place??
Many thanks, Erick.
(I am still a big fan of nextgen despite the problem I had and thinking seriously of going pro – to get the responsive galleries for mobile, assuming your reassurance they work across all platforms including windows phone, android and iphone) But maybe do the update first and then the upgrade.

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] WordPress 3.7Hi Photocrati I am running 2.0.
I used ftp to rename plugins folder (to_bak) and then having established that was where the problem lay, used the same technique to disable each plugin folder and unfortunately nextgen drew the short straw.
I used the capabilities.php edit as per the link above and this has resolved the issue but I am not happy at editing core wordpress files.
I know you will suggest upgrading to your latest version but given, the previous problems, I am understandbly nervous. I lost the lot when I went to 2.0.
Hope this helps.

In reply to: Problem upgrading to 3.7It does look like the fix outlined by photomaldives – thank you – is working.
For reference, theme for me is graphene, plugin causing the difficulties is nextgen gallery, version running 2.0.
Following the steps outlined here enabled me to quickly identify the problem plugin via ftp access to the server, so it is a good place to start.
As to the ultimate solution, editing the capabilities.php at core does not seem right so let us hope a solution arises by us airing this both here and I will also post across in the very long problem forum for nextgen.

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] WordPress 3.7There is a solution posted here that is working but can this be noted by nextgen to be added to the list of possible fixes? I am certainly not criticising the plugin as this is a very recent update, but protocol suggest the burden will lay with the plugin and a fix and not the other way round.
Many thanks

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] WordPress 3.7I have upgraded to 3.7 too and am getting the
Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in wp-includes/user.php on line 215 – this is being reported on this forum PROBLEM UPGRADING TO 3.7
I followed their route and isolated the problem to nextgen gallery. I am running 2.0.
Any thoughts, as I now have no images in my site, as each time I re-enable the nextgen plug-in, the error returns.

In reply to: Problem upgrading to 3.7Yup same problem with Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in wp-includes/user.php on line 215
I followed the plugins method using ftp and isolated the problem to be, almost typically if you follow the other threads on the forum….NEXTGEN GALLERY.
I am running version 2.0, their major update as I have not dared touch it since then, having lost everything for 24 hours.
