I think you are seeing a problem with the JavaScript for Track The Click being deferred by an optimization plugin. Are you using one of these, and could you try disabling it? Do reply and let us know and we can investigate further.

Hi Simon. Track The Click can only track clicks by people already on your website, not by people linking to your website. I think you’re wanting to track referrers to your website, which we’d previously have said was a function of something like Google Analytics, though I haven’t tried the new version 4 so can’t promise but would expect it to be in there somewhere!

Hello. That’s exactly what Track The Click is for ?? Have you tried it out yet? You might need to look in the settings section and remove your own site from the exclude list under the Other tab.

Hello, and thanks for trying Track The Click. We would need to make adjustments to show the menu to users at a lower level than administrator. I can see how this would be useful, so I will add it to our feature list but can’t give any timeframe on when this might be implemented.

Hello and thanks for using Track The Click. We’ve had that suggestion a few times, including most recently here. At the moment it’s not possible to exclude these users but we will look to add it in the future.

I’m afraid we don’t have any PHP to exclude logged in users at the moment. As soon as we look into this and get it working, we’ll release it as an update to the plugin.

This isn’t something we support at the moment, though it has been suggested several times so we may well look to add it in a future version.

We haven’t released any new versions since your previous post and your latest. Are you seeing an errors in your browser console?

As the clicks are detected using JavaScript, I’d be surprised if you’re seeing clicks from the various search engine spiders. Can you share where you’re seeing this data and how you’re interpreting the clicks as coming from the bots? We’ve had previous suggestions to avoid tracking logged in users which we might add in the future. That would hopefully cover excluding yourself from the tracking.

The exact time of each click is already recorded, how would you like to see this data presented?

We will not record the IP address of clicks. This would bring the plugin into the scope of GDPR and other regulation which we are keen to avoid. It is also not what the plugin is designed for – for that level of tracking you’re probably better off using something like Google Analytics.

Are you seeing the icon in the dashboard or on the public site? I don’t think we’ve ever seen it turning up on either! If it’s on your public site and you don’t want to share the address here, please email it to me on [email protected] and I’ll be happy to take a look. Do you perhaps have any other plugins that put an icon next to links?

Hi @cjjkees. The only way I can think of right now for doing that is if you’re comfortable making the changes in your site’s CSS to hide it on other links. This isn’t a feature we’re currently planning to put inside Track The Click itself.
