In reply to: Can I abandon or redirect the main site of WP MU?Thanx. How come I didn’t think of that!?
Of course, m first choice was to use the main site as a dynamic front page/home page of the entire website. (using some tool – say “WordPress MU Sitewide Tags” plugin).
But I am wary of duplicate content issue with search engines.
So, I will have to settle for a manually created static front page.

In reply to: Using non-alphanumeric characters on WPMU site url?Thanx.
If “too many variables” are at play, perhaps I can’t tell when a problem surfaces either.
Looks like I better create a new site rather than editing an exiting one(even if it got only themes and plugins, no posts) – just to be on the safe side.Thank you.

In reply to: Can I abandon or redirect the main site of WP MU?Thanx.
But what does that editing do?
I am not having problem with creating subdomains. I want subdirectories and I chose that during install.
I am okay with that.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Multisite CPTs = too much fragmentation?Thanx.
I bet I wont need most CPT on more than one site.
So, would you tell me/recommend a material on the tweaks?
Any CPT plugin creator you wold recommend?Thanx again.

In reply to: What about using WPMU for a few sites with one admin?Before closing this thread, I shall share two materials that I just found – to any newbie who might need them.

In reply to: Can I tweak the homepage display of latest posts?For example: There is this site:- zehabesha(dot)com
At the bottom it says, grabfire wordpress themes.
Looks like a multisite. Do you think they applied the workaround you suggested?
Thank you.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: 3 questions on using Custom Post TypesI will try that and get back to you/this thread ASAP.
Thank you for your kindness.

In reply to: 3 questions on using Custom Post TypesThanx.
Then, how do I make the CPT posts show up on the archive page of the default category?For example: I wrote a post and published it in a CPT and assigned it to a custom taxonomy called “painting” and also to a default category called “art”.
The post can be found on:
* example.com/CPT-name/
* example.com/custom_taxonomy/painting
However, it is not visible on example.com/category/artHow do I fix that?

In reply to: 3 questions on using Custom Post TypesThank you very much for your help.
However, I am confused on one point.*You said:
“CPT cannot be assigned to default taxonomy”.
Did you mean I shouldn’t? or a bad idea?
Because, if you create a CPT using “Custom Post Type UI version: 0.8.2”, there is “Advanced Options” – “Built-in Taxonomies”.
It lets you decide to enable the default categories and tags for CPT.Thank you again.

In reply to: 3 questions on using Custom Post TypesOne more thing: Is it possible to subscribe (via rssfeed or email) to a single CPT posts archive(example.com/cpt-name/feed/)?

In reply to: What about using WPMU for a few sites with one admin?Thank you.
I presume you would respond to the first question in the affirmative.
Then, perhaps, I should play with CPT to grasp the full extent of possibilities (in conj. with categories).Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Where are the premium themes of www.ads-software.com?Oh, it appears one can get plenty info by googling “GPL wordpress theme”.
Thank you again.
Have a nice day.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Where are the premium themes of www.ads-software.com?Thank you for your prompt reply.
I wish you would suggest informative review articles focused on “GPL Themes”. That would save time for me and would help others who might read this thread.
Thank you again.

In reply to: Should I use Multisite?After reading Mika Epstein’s blogpost on WPMU for the nth time, I noted the main concerns(atleast those relevant to me) are:
*The additional know-how needed to work as a network admin;
*The trouble of being admin(supervisor, upgrader, etc) of several blogs;
*The risk of having multiple deputy admins, who might not be as careful or as skilled;
*The difficulty of separating blogs hosted on a WPMU site, incase one decides to switch at some later date.In that case, for someone who can be satisfied with a few – say, 2 or 4 blogs; it seems prudent to use several WP single installations rather than boarding on WPMU.
I imagine that search engines would treat them as sections of one site, esp. if the blogs are setup as subdirectories (rather than subdomains).
If my summation is wrong, I hope to be corrected.
If correct, someone else would find it helpful.Thank you.
