Hi. We have an experience where an email was sent twice (same content) from our WordPress site which uses Easy SMTP. The first email sent was deliberately made from a WordPress form by a customer.

6 weeks later, the same email was received by our inbox. Upon calling the customer, he said that they did not fill out anything from our website. Our EasySMTP mailer settings is “Other SMTP” and linked to our OFfice 365 SMTP account. We are using a free version

I also checked with Office 365 support and they said that on their end, the email was sent twice and not stuck on their end. They suggested to check with EasySMTP plugin.

    My question is:
    1. Is there a known issue that an email gets stuck and sent out on a random time?

    2. For free issues, is there an internal log we could look at?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi @perezalison,

Thanks for reaching out & I apologize for the trouble!

Please be informed that the Easy WP SMTP plugin simply acts as a bridge between your WordPress site and your email service, which in this case is your Microsoft 365 account. It’s important to understand that the Easy WP SMTP plugin does not contain a feature to send emails autonomously. It dispatches emails only when a request is generated by WordPress, such as a password reset email, or some third-party plugin like a contact form plugin.

I have reviewed previous issues reported by our users, but I could not find any similar situation.

As for the free version, we do not log emails within the Easy WP SMTP plugin. However, logging capability is included as a feature in the pro version, which you can learn more about here.

In the free version, you can refer to the “debug events” section to troubleshoot any email delivery issues. You can find more information about this here.

Generally, this issue does not appear to be specific to the Easy WP SMTP plugin since we do not offer such a feature. Therefore, I recommend that you further investigate this issue with your email service provider.

    I hope this helps. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation @darshanaw and further recommendations. So, EasySMTP plugin acts merely as a forwarder to the selected SMTP host (in this case Office 365) and no EasySMTP does not store emails as well?
