In reply to: [Embedder For Google Drive] Works…if you follow all of the instructionsThanks again. Agreed it is important to keep up with Google changes, and of course that’s the real value I believe I need to provide to all users of these plugins. As before, everyone is encouraged to report their experiences directly to me so I can collate and understand what Google is doing overall.
For anyone else facing the same issue that Google Apps Login seems to be forcing ‘Login with Google’ automatically, you have most likely turned on the setting ‘Automatically redirect to Google from login page’ in the Advanced Options tab of the plugin settings page. See here: https://wp-glogin.com/docs/google-apps-login/configuration/advanced-options/

In reply to: [Embedder For Google Drive] Works…if you follow all of the instructionsThank you very much for your honest review.
A lot of the Google-related problems do change over time as they tweak things at their end, and that’s one reason it seems to me sensible to provide support directly by email. I’m always very happy to help all users – [email protected].
In any case, unfortunately I don’t think I’m the first plugin author to find the forums unworkable as a ‘helpdesk’, so I do try to direct people to email. Sorry if you feel that is inconvenient.
I currently have a couple of ‘sticky’ FAQ support threads at the top of the forum, but I don’t think people notice them there. There is a lot of info on our site.
Please also understand that people arrive at the plugin(s) in different ways. Some find the Drive plugin after they have already been using the Login plugin. Many just find Drive by searching within their own site’s Plugin pages, which means they never arrive at the plugin homepage on this site anyway. So I have tried to build in as many steps to help along the way, within the plugins. If you install Drive, it will advise if Login is not installed. If Login is not configured, it leads you through that, etc.
But ultimately the problem for the Drive plugin lately has been that Google’s client library doesn’t provide a way to display the configuration errors on the screen. So the plugin can apparently break without any clear error, but the same thing could happen due to non-Google WordPress configuration issues too. So tracking down errors like that probably does just need experience…
As you have also found, Google’s latest fraud-detection efforts sometimes lead to extra steps (described here). These are subject to change – which is another important reason that I really appreciate users getting in touch directly via email: so I can learn the latest about the way different users are being affected by Google’s latest changes! They aren’t necessarily the same for everyone…
Thanks again for taking the time to work through the plugin and letting me know your thoughts. I really appreciate it, and will see if I can further refine the user experience for everyone, again acknowledging that people come at this from many different angles.
As ever, I can’t promise to spot replies on the forum here, so please do email if anyone has any follow-up! ([email protected])
Regards,
Dan

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] clickable linksThank you for getting in touch.
Hyperlinks are only supported in the premium version of the plugin – sorry for any disappointment.
More details are here, which is especially useful if you are already using the Premium version but are still having trouble getting hyperlinks to work for some reason:

Please note that email is the preferred method to contact support, so please do get in touch with any further questions about the free or premium versions of the plugin: [email protected].
We will be happy to help.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] MultisiteEd,
Thank you for getting in touch.
Yes, all versions of the plugin will work on multisite. You an choose to network activate OR just let individual site admins activate at a sub-site level.
Please get in touch with our support team if you have any other questions: [email protected]. We may not pick up replies to the forum here.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Only allow continuous page scrolling on full page viewThank you for your post. Please could you contact our support team on email though: [email protected].
That’s the official method to obtain support for the products (free and/or premium), but in particular WordPress may remove posts from this forum if they are based on the premium functionality.
To set expectations though, I don’t believe there is currently a workaround to achieve your suggestion. Of course we always appreciate your feedback and suggestions, so please do get in touch directly so we can contact you more efficiently.
I may not be able to pick up further replies here – sorry!

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Limit plugin use to one page onlyThank you for your post.
It should be possible to at least switch the default behavior to embedding a link instead of the pdf-embedder shortcode, which may work better for you if that’s most often what you’re looking to achieve.
Details are here: https://wp-pdf.com/kb/stop-the-pdf-embedder-shortcode-being-inserted-into-posts-automatically/
This could be extended to only happen on your selected pages, but would need your developer to think about how that can be achieved on your site.
If you have any follow-up to this at all, please could you get in touch with our support team by email: [email protected].
Please include this conversation so far. We will probably not pick up replies to the forum here – email is the official support channel for this plugin.
Thanks,
Dan

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Link function of form button?I think you are right that (unfortunately) a form button will not function as a link, and no version of the plugin supports forms.
They would need to be embedded as genuine links for the premium version to be able to render them as hyperlinks.
For further support, please email our support team on [email protected]. I may not pick up replies on the forum here.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Works with wifi – not with 4G androidThank you for your post.
Please could you get in touch with our support team via email, ideally containing a link to the page on your site?

To be honest, the stock Android browser isn’t very reliable – it could be worth also trying Chrome on Android to see if that behaves differently.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] GDE and WP 4.8 IssueThanks for your post, but please see:

The plugin has been stripped to its barebones state in order to sufficiently comply with a security review.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] Plugin removed from repository? The plugin is now available again as version 2.6.4.
There were some security concerns around some legacy files that are no longer central to the plugin, so I have removed them and improved general security checks within the plugin. In order to meet the plugin review team’s requirements I simplified some of the plugin functionality rather than attempt to fix the way it works.
I removed the ability to add and edit profiles – only the default profile can now be edited. I have also removed the ‘g’ icon in the editor so shortcode attributes must be entered manually. Or you can ‘Insert Media’ for appropriate file types to get the basic shortcode inserted directly.
I am not the original author of this plugin but have attempted to keep it alive as much as possible!
Especially with major changes coming up in WordPress over the next few months, my advice is to consider the plugin as due for retirement, and ideally to find alternatives. Some suggestions are on the main page of the plugin in the repository. I’ll attempt to update the plugin page with this information at some point soon.
Thanks,
Dan

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] Plugin removed from repository? There was a security alert whereby it appeared a cross-site scripting attack could have been carried out. This was inside a file that was no longer in use so it has just been removed from a new version 2.6.3 that should be released shortly.
Thanks,
Dan

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] Plugin removed from repository?I am a maintainer (but not the main author) of this plugin, so I will try to find out from WordPress why the plugin appears to have been made private recently.
I’ll update here if I find anything out…
Thanks,
Dan

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Missing PDFSorry not to notice this thread – please email [email protected] with any support questions at all.
In these cases you most likely have ended up with the wrong quote characters in your shortcode – curly quotes instead of straight quotes (“).
Please email support for any further assistance anyway. I will probably not notice any replies here.
Thanks,
Dan
