I got this error on one of my sites yesterday. Luckily I had email 2fa enabled. When I tried to “Generate New Secret” the website would not accept the codes generated by my app using the new secret. I tried again this morning and it worked. This implies to me that the problem was something temporarily broken in the Solid Security infrastructure. If this is the case, I’m wondering if the “Generate a New Secret” was really necessary, or if the above is bad advise.

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Is there a way to get the user “ID” for “Include Mastodon Feed”Thanks for the response. I suppose nobody is working on an “Include ActivityPub Feed” plugin?
Just for grins: I tried accountID 0 and it says “missing configuration”, so I guess it’s interpreting “0” == “not set”
[include-mastodon-feed] missing configuration: account id

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Images only show up as links?I added that snippet and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks!

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Images only show up as links? Thanks for the help! Tl;dr: the problem is with the Jetpack plugin.
I disabled all the plugins on my site (except ActivityPub) and re-enabled them one by one, using your suggestion above to search for different posts (to avoid caching issues). Everything worked as expected (i.e. posts showed up on Mastodon with images), until I enabled Jetpack AND connected it to my WordPress.com account. After connecting Jetpack the posts again started displaying on Mastodon with just a URL instead of an image.
I then tried disabling Jetpack features, and it turned out that the setting “Performance & Speed” > “Enable site accelerator” > “Speed up image load times” is the culprit. When I turn off that switch things work again.
So the remaining mystery is why having that switch turned on only breaks things for that one Mastodon instance(? or maybe just for my browsers?), but I can live with disabling the feature for now.

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Images only show up as links?Hmm, if I use Safari or Chrome, opening https://better.boston/@[email protected] redirects me to the WordPress site.
If I open that URL from Firefox I get something that looks like a Mastodon profile page. I disabled all extensions and it still behaves the same.

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Images only show up as links?I’m on https://better.boston ; I haven’t changed anything on that site, it’s not mine. I have the Ghostery extension, a couple ad blockers and “Duck Duck Go Privacy Essentials” installed but nothing specifically to affect Mastodon, all other Mastodon posts with attached images that show up in my timeline look correct.

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Images only show up as links? Thanks. It still looks like this when I view it.
Maybe the problem is the web browser interface? I’m viewing https://better.boston/@[email protected]/111224012205546422 using Firefox.
Or, could it be the version of Mastodon on my instance?

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Images only show up as links?I guess I wasn’t clear: the WordPress post itself looks fine when you click on it – as it should since ActivityPub is not involved at that point?
But, I was expecting the image to show up when I open the Mastodon post, or if it shows up in my timeline, the way images do if I attach one to the post by hand. Instead all I see is the text/link to “dsc01199.jpg” and no image. Are you saying that’s the expected behavior?
Edited: I just installed the plugin on another site and there was no checkbox for the forms plugin, that I could see, anywhere in the setup wizard. I did see the notice about the installation of the forms plugin, but it was in small gray text hidden at the bottom of one of the steps, and vanished when I went back in the process to try to find the checkbox. This is really not above-board.
a. Neither the checkbox nor the notice are very visible in the setup process. I was not aware of the other plugin until it showed up, activated, in my plugin list.
b. apparently the check box is checked by default
Those are both dark UI patterns. I don’t think that’s an adequate excuse. Please re-think this.

In reply to: [WP Social Post And Widget] Challenge requiredI’m having this problem too. I was logged in but posts stopped working. Deleted login and re-entered and started getting the “Challenge required” error. How do we find the address for the PROXY for our region?

In reply to: [Customizr] Fancybox version conflict with pluginAny prognosis on this? it’s really a shame Customizr isn’t compatible with up-to-date Fancybox effects.

In reply to: [Customizr] Fancybox version conflict with pluginBTW: I had used some CSS to change my main page slider transition from a “Slide” to “Fade” (IMO the slide looks kind of jarring and ugly). And it turns out that when I turned off Customizr Lightbox as above this broke and I’m back to a slide.
So it would be really nice to have a way to resolve this Fancybox conflict so I could get the effects working everywhere.

In reply to: [Customizr] Fancybox version conflict with pluginIs there a way to mark it “kinda resolved”? As a long term fix it would be nice if the library conflict weren’t there at all. I would have liked to use the Customizr lightbox based gallery, but with this workaround I can’t.

In reply to: [Customizr] Fancybox version conflict with pluginThank you for the suggestion. That does fix the problem. I can live with using the plugin for photo lightboxes instead of the Customizr feature.
