Many thanks again, I had thought of doing that but I always seem to have problems importing these large tables with dates in UK formats, etc. Anyway, now I can easily delete records it won’t be too difficult.

Many thanks Tobias, I’m not certain why I didn’t try that! However, I don’t suppose there is any way to create a new table from a subset of records from an existing table, instead of having to delete 2,000 records each time. I want to split my big table into 20 or 30 sub tables.

Once again many thanks for your help and this has certainly worked and has solved the problem. However, I am mystified as to why I didn’t need to add this for my 2014 or 2017 tables which sorted ok after I added the TablePress Extension: DataTables Sorting plugin.

Another small question for you please. I have increased the padding for the table from 2px to 6px to give more clarity to the columns. However, this has also added space between the rows. I would like the padding between the rows to remain at 2px, but between the columns to be 6px. Is this possible please?

Hi Tobias,
Thank you for your reply. It has solved the formatting problem but the field is now considered as a text field and no longer sorts as a date field. I am sure we had this problem in 2014 which is why I installed the TablePress Extension: DataTables Sorting plugins. If you look at either the 2014 or 2017 Dartmoor Geocache tables from the main menu you will see that they both format and sort correctly. I also feel sure that we used the xlsx versions and not the csv versions of the import files.

Thanks once again for a speedy reply – it all works great.

Some of my columns do not have completed rows, some cells are just blank. These columns do not sort properly. I don’t know if it is possible to get these to sort properly, but if not can I prevent sorting on these columns.

I’ve downloaded the sorting extension which has taken care of sorting my European dates – wonderful.

So far I am very impressed with this plugin and your professionalism and attention to detail which is almost always missing in WordPress plugins.

I’ve one related question: How do I set a maximum table width as I don’t want the table overflowing on to the side column when I have some wider data?

And one unrelated question (which I will post in a separate topic if you wish): As you can see I have one field containing European dates. How do I specify this so that the sorts work ok.
