Thanks Puneet, I found a more radical solution: I deleted NextGen Galleries altogether and it was my best decision.
I did not use W3cache. I did use SuperCache (and deactivating it did not change a thing).
I am rolling back to latest pre-2.0.
And so I did. I hope I’ll get an answer, but considering we are at 2.0.17 and the problem still occurs, I don’t hold my breath…

In reply to: Prevent CSS editor from deleting proprietary extensionJust an addition: the bugs are not from WordPress but from Jetpack. This is the plugin responsible for the buggy “modify CSS” feature.

In reply to: Prevent CSS editor from deleting proprietary extensionOuch, you are right, this was a plugin ??
Sorry to have bothered the board. I know have to find out which plugin it was…
Thank you for the help!

In reply to: Prevent CSS editor from deleting proprietary extensionAnother similar (but not identical because it is not a proprietary extension) issue:
In Appearance > Modify CSS, paste this:
content: attr(title)”\a”attr(cite);
“\a” will become “a”. “\a” is CSS code for carriage return. Barring the \a prevents carriage return to be generated by CSS.

In reply to: Prevent CSS editor from deleting special and supported codeThe isssue is a different one. This is not a proprietary extension, this is a public CSS code.
