In reply to: Email this stopped workingGot it working again by changing the SMTP server from “mail,naturalfoodworks.net” to “localhost” per my site support’s suggestion. But I can’t figure out why it stopped working just like that. They told me to use “mail,naturalfoodworks.net” in the first place! Anyway, it seems to be good for now…
Thanx

In reply to: Email this stopped working“This thread any help?
No but thanx. My SMTP server settings are correct and valid as is the account that the wp-email file is configured to use. The whole thing worked fine for several days and then just stopped. Maybe I need to reload the files…

In reply to: Newbie needs help customizing column widths…If you just want to mess around with the .css you can download the Edit CSS plugin for firefox which is part of the developer’s package Lorelle mentioned. Here is a good screen shot of it in use. You can play with the .css file to your heart’s content because the plug in does not actually modify the file itself. But once you get it tweaked, you can copy the code and paste it into your .css file.

In reply to: Is it possible to use a seperate template for a single “page”?Well I don’t know. That’s the problem! I was hoping that someone could tell me. When I downloaded the template I currently use there were only two files, index.php and styles.css plus some image files. I installed these in the root dir of my blog and that was it (using 1.2 then but now using 1.5). So. I was hoping I could install another template (or theme) in the themes dir. and then get the wp-email page to use that theme instead of the theme used by the rest of the blog. What I really want to do is to simplify the look of the “email this article” page.

In reply to: Is it possible to use a seperate template for a single “page”?OK, you are still over my head. What I don’t know is how to change the style reference for the file! In other words, what is it that says “use this template instead of that one”? “wp_blog-header.php” just looks like a bunch of code that I really don’t understand. Feel free to tell me that I have no biz trying to do this with my limited understanding. I already know that! But what the heck! Like I said, it’s a miracle I’ve gotten this far.

In reply to: Is it possible to use a seperate template for a single “page”?Remember, I’m way over my head here. It’s a miracle I’ve gotten this far. Mostly due to the assistance of people on this forum. What I have is a wp-email.php file that is part of the “plug in” and it seems to use the template for the blog. It begins with:
// Require WordPress Header
require(‘wp-blog-header.php’);// Require E-Mailer Class
require(ABSPATH.WPINC.’/class-phpmailer.php’);(The entire code is here)
There is no “include” or “get” or anything beyond the above. So what I would like to do is to create (or download) a template or CSS called say, e-mail, that would have only one col. Then I would have to put that somewhere (where I don’t know) and then add whatever I need to add to the wp-email,php file to make it use that template instead of the 3 col template used by the “rest” of the pages.
I thank you for being patient with me because, like I said i am in way over my head here (but learning nonetheless!).

In reply to: Is it possible to use a seperate template for a single “page”?Cool. Now, suppose I wanted to use the “page” template in the default theme. How would I “force” wp-email to use that template?
Thanx again.

In reply to: Another “e-mail this post” questionThis is helping a lot. I got the mail “window” looking OK by adding the narrowcolumn class to my .CSS. Now if I coulf get rid of the header and footer so as to just have the mail “box” itself displayed, I could sleep tonight!

In reply to: Another “e-mail this post” questionThis is getting me in to right direction. I was at least able to get rid of all of the warnings. I’m sure I could do something with CSS if I knew:
A) how to force wp-email.php to look for a specific .CSS and
B) where to put the .CSSForum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Upgraded to 1.5 but can’t find this code (re mail this post link)Thank You. That worked perfectly. I owe you one… Now…if you look at the blog you will see that the e-mail this link is directly above the date line for the next post and there is quite a bit of “white space” between the link and the last line of the post to which the e-mail link pertains. Is there any way to have the link “moved up” so that it is closer to the body text and leave more “white space” between the link and the date of the following post?
Thanx

In reply to: Comment without Registering?I am “wit chew”, manx! I shudder at the thought of how much damage could be done by someone using the information about contaminated chicken to create a terrorist threat:) But, anyway, point taken. I plan to perform the upgrade in a couple of days as I need to make sure I have a block of time to “focus” on doing it right. Thanx again for all your helpful advice…

In reply to: Comment without Registering?Well I never installed a “hack” or a plug in. But no one can comment without registering and logging in. Are you saying that it is not possible to allow someone to comment unless they log in? As I recall, this is something that can be “turned on or off” via the admin panel in V1.5. Maybe it’s time to upgrade?
Thanx
