In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp Activity] Size/Activity shows as flatline despite changesI posted a later bug where it only shows a week and not always accurately, whatever the settings. The MC plugin has upgraded to ver 4 with no updates here so it looks like this service has fallen out of date.
Well done, Wiyre
You just need to add:
Additional Headers:
Reply-To: [your-email]So the resulting emails respond properly. Then all is hunky dory again.
If you’re going to use a fake domain address, I’d use something well-known not to be valid like [email protected]

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Subject Configuration ErrorThanks Takayuki and others.
Seems the options where adding a bit of text outside the tag or making Subject required. I chose the second.
Now its fully validated.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Configuration Error MessageSome Support images show using [your-email] in the From.
This is no longer valid.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Configuration Error MessageYou need to use the domains email because its the server, not the form filler, thats sending the email. Some email servers are now seeing the form as spam-like or relaying.
However, when you switch to using the servers email, you then want to add to Additional Headers the following so you can Reply to the messages.
Reply-To: [your-email]It’s for mailserver validation, not fixing the form per se.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Contact Form 7 – Configuration Error wrongly notified ?It’s a change to meet mail servers bouncing messages seen as spam. I posted the fix on topic – you do need to match the domain but also add the reply-to.
“This email address does not belong to the same domain as the site.”I got the message too. Turns out, it’s the distinction between the form and the mail routing.
On the Form, [your-email] is the form fillers address.
On the Mail tab, the settings are for Routing the mail. To is who you want the form data to go to and From is the address SENDing the form data. In this case, it’s not actually the person sending, it’s the web site. So From should match the server domain so it’s not seen by mail servers as spoofing or relaying. In many cases, To and From will be the SAME on the Mail tab. Just tested this and it worked fine and now passes the new configuration checker.
Just be sure to put the From email address in brackets: <email>
Sample images in the Help pages are now out of date. They do show using [your-email] in the From. This is now a mistake.
More importantly, the change looses the From email address. So if you reply to the message, you end up replying to yourself. So now you ALSO need to add the following to Additional Headers:
Reply-To: [your-email]It’s also a good idea to add a name to the From email address as that will carry forward in the correspondence and is better than “WordPress”.
The format is: Name <[email protected]>
This may seem a bunch of extra work but it does avoid your contact forms being seen as having spam-like qualities.

In reply to: Delete Themes@bemdesign – I was adding information to the thread so it was more complete.

In reply to: Delete ThemesAnother option I found suggested Resetting the themes settings to default. looking for that now.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Delete ThemesI discovered on another thread that themes also store their files in the database. Why doesn’t WP have an option for deleting themes data too? If you try several themes, they could leave behind a lot of junk.

In reply to: Delete ThemesI followed said instructions and deleted a theme where the settings had become corrupted.
I then logged in via FTP to ensure the theme had been complete deleted, folder and all. It had.But when I reinstalled the theme, all the prior settings where still intact. In other words – it didn’t delete all of the theme. How do you delete all of it?
sweetCaptcha has been pulled from the WordPress repository. SC began serving large ads from a disreputable ad network that were triggering users antivirus.
If you have Adblock plugin, you may not be seeing this, but it was tracking the code.
I have removed this once-recommended plugin from all sites. Bad business move – serving spam ads from an antispam tool? Sheesh. Right up there with Lenovo.

I discovered it had stopped sending to Twitter Jan 2. I sent a test one and it worked. But the next scheduled send didn’t go.
Based on Marius’s suggestion above, I stopped and restarted it again. About a minute later, one went out. Seems to be working again – we’ll see when the next scheduled time comes around.
Thanks!
Hi Mores
Keep in mind that the bots don’t look at the displayed page, they look at the code. Something in there is going to tie the author name to their profile. Apparently not just in the database. Not sure how that’s done in WP but I notice a lot of author references in the code. Some of that is theme, some WP.And yes, WP communicates the posts a number of ways, depending on how you’re set up. The default goes to 2 ping sites for example plus RSS feeds.
WP is set up to communicate and advertize posts.
The key of course for any editor plus accounts is strong passwords. You should never assume the account can’t be pinged or something. If it’s on the web, it’s not hidden.
I had a staff member once rather upset a competitor. He was curious about their code, so he downloaded their entire password protected site. They saw the traffic and when they realized it was a competitor, had a bird.
