In reply to: [Visual Portfolio, Photo Gallery & Post Grid] Overlay ElementsHi Alex,
I see, that’s a shame. But thanks very much for providing the guide on how to do this manually. I’ll give it a go.
I guess, theme updates would overwrite our changes in this case too though right?
Thanks,
David
Hi Nikita,
I see, sounds good!
And yes “Avoid Duplicates” seems to be working now, so we’ll go with that.
Thanks again,
David
…ok no worries for my last question, I found the documentation: https://visualportfolio.co/docs/gallery-blocks/content-source/posts/#manual-selection
But it doesn’t solve the issue unfortunately. Is there any way to exclude the post that the gallery is used on? The gallery is picking up all posts for a CPT, but we don’t want it to show the post that it is used on if that makes sense!
Hi Nikita,
I see, sounds good! And yes we use Gifs (although didn’t know there was a hover activation feature, looks great!) currently but now we self host videos on the site it makes sense to use them so that’s great if this will be coming soon. It will pick up the video from as post’s ‘Featured Image’?
Can I ask a quick secondary question, I have selected ‘Manual Selection’ for a smaller Visual Portfolio we have created…yet I do not see anywhere to actually ‘manually select’ the posts for that gallery. I couldn’t see any documentation for this either, am I missing something!
Thanks!
David
Very concerned about the radio silence in this forum too @compata ! Waiting for a reply to my thread from a month ago.
I just got a notification bar from Gutenslider in the admin panel, about their ‘Affiliate program’. I haven’t seen that before, so guessing it’s new. If so, @eedee where are you!? I hope you haven’t abandoned this project, it really is the last WordPress slider we would need…. ??
@harry-hobbes – we tried the Theme update on a single page website. When we say the website ‘dropped’, we mean going front end for this website there’s an entirely new Twenty Twenty Four themed generic homepage, not the one specified in Twenty Twenty Three. Maybe that’s expected, if so….. it’s kinda clunky ˉ_(ツ)_/ˉ
Hi all,
I’m with @ramf on this one, I’ve also created a bunch of simple but elegegant sites on the new WordPress, with the Twenty Twenty Three theme. Switching to TT4 drops the entire site essentially ??
I guess that is what it is, I’ve put TT3 back to active and the sites return…but, what do WordPress actually have in mind for this transition? Am I missing something here or any communication on it? Is Twenty Twenty Four just for brand new users or is there a way to transition, or some sort of thought about this before they released it…?
Confusing. I have really loved using Twenty Twenty Three but would love more communication on this process.
This is ideal, thank you @properlypurple ?? The power of the WP community!
That totally achieves what we needed for this site, I edited the PHP so it displays custom text instead of the post title if anyone else needs this in future:
<?php c2c_next_or_loop_post_link('%link >', 'NEXT'); ?>
Do you guys think there’s any problems in that the Loop Post Nav plugin hasn’t been updated in 3 years? Or you know, in general is it a security/stability risk to warrant concern? ??
Thanks for the heads up @properlypurple, I totally missed that section on the Loop nav plugin page. I’d tried the Lazy Blocks plugin previously actually, just had a go now but couldn’t quite get it all to work. So it’s probably becoming a bit of a waste of time at this stage, I’ll have to return to it in future.
Thanks again ??
Hey @properlypurple,
Yes that one absolutely looks like it should do what’s needed but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have any affect when activated.
To be fair the plugin says it hasn’t been tested on the last 3 major WP releases, so perhaps it’s just not an option when using Gutenberg/Twenty Twenty Three.
I’ve read I could potentially do this with some PHP edits but I wanted to keep this as much using just TT3 as possible really, apart from using some plugins of course ??
I found a website using WP that illustrates this perhaps slightly more clearly, although perhaps the site’s build isn’t that new itself it’s still the core WP functionality I’m looking at.

Link above shows the user’s posts displayed oldest to newest by the looks of it, but it also shows only the ‘Next’ navigation UI is viewable.
Hi @foosantos,
Yes sure, so for example take the most recent post on this site:
Call for testing of the new Font Library – Gutenberg Times
At the end of the article/post you get the navigation links to go to the previous post chronologically, but not a ‘Next’ post UI item. But of course, clicking to a previous post would then show both navigation options to go either way.
What I want to to is make it so if you are at the first or last post, you can continue cycling through the entire set you have on the site or within that category.
But perhaps my use case would be of more help, I’m adding posts that hold an artist’s work displayed on a query loop. Single post template inherits that and we show one post, but it’s the one selected. I then want to be able to scroll throughout all the images. OR at least have some form of UI nudge like not entirely removing the ‘Next’ link for instance and making it appear inactive.
Sorry if this is a long reply, hopefully it makes sense. Cheers!
Hey @jordesign, that’s great, thank you for the confirmation ?? I had tried a few things, adding them to the Nav as items, grouping the Nav with the other blocks etc, all of which got them to display within the hamburger overlay but then not before clicking it and so on! But that’s great it’s potentially being added in some way.
Off topic, but do you know if WP have a tester program or anything for the Twenty Twenty Four theme or do they keep that entirely in-house? Or I can post that question elsewhere if not suitable here. Cheers!

In reply to: [teachPress] Sorry, no publications matched your criteria. That has fixed it, thanks! One report back from the users is while this works as normal again now, the block is still triggering when using the ‘delete’ function for any of the items. This is not vital for the usage as they can now get into the post types again; but just thought we would feed that back for you in case the same fix is possible there too.
