    Tara:

Thanks for your response. I can certainly do that although I don’t know that this is due to any specific plug-in. The text is part of the default WordPress log in window.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks,

    David

    Greg:

On a hunch, I deleted the Akismet plug-in and reinstalled it. The reinstall went OK with no errors reported and I am now at the current version.

For now it looks like the issue is resolved. We’ll see what happens when the next update is released.

Thanks for your help on this.

    regards,

    David

    Greg:

Thanks for your continued help on this issue. Per your suggestion, I checked the permissions and found the following:

    wp-content/plugins/akismet
    wp-content/plugins/akismet/_inc

Both of the above folders have the same permissions as follows:

    drwxrwxr-x

    Regarding the last item:

    wp-content/plugins/akismet/includes

This does not appear to exist in the wp-content/plugins/akismet directory or in any of its sub folders.

    Your thoughts?

    Regards,

    David

    Greg:

Thanks for the response. I do have my hosting company looking at this.

I looked at the permissions on the Askimet plug-in directory and they appear (from the letters displayed? to match all of the other plug-ins.

I was able to pull the full error message from the failed update which says:

An error occurred while updating Akismet: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files.
This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. php.ini, views/php.ini, _inc/php.ini, _inc/img/php.ini

While that does sound like a permission problem, I’m not sure it’s in the plug-in’s folder. Does this additional information lend any clue as to where to look for a fix?

    Thanks,

    David
