A few of us are having trouble with the free version over at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/header-does-not-appear?replies=4. It involves the header image not showing up even though it appears we’ve all set it up correctly.

Any help is very much appreciated.

It would seem that more than a few of us are having the same problem. I even found on the WP support forum someone asking about this same issue.

I’ve followed the same steps as everyone here and experiencing the same problem. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Found solution for code, so changed my strategy by reducing the number of child categories.

I’m sorry for not responding until now. After I closed this issue I hadn’t planned on returning to it, but because I wanted to reference something I noticed your inquiry. ??

When you want to comment something out of some code, it means you leave that text in the file, but tell WordPress to ignore it. That way you can bring it back if you want to. You do this by placing a <!-- at the beginning of code and a --> at the end. So anything in between these will be ignored by WordPress.

In order to display the line numbers, it depends on what text editor you are using. Usually, you’ll find this feature in most editors (like Notepad or the like). I suggest looking at the View menu or preferences for something entitled “show line numbers” or something like that.

HandySolo: AWESOME! That got me back, but only partially.

First, yes, the blog’s URL was originally in /blog, but when I made the move I decided to bring it to the root.

Okay, so that part of it’s done with, but something’s still amiss. I recreated my htaccess file and set it back to 664 as the WP documentation instructs. That help me get to a post if I clicked on the recent posts widget.

But if I click on a recent comment, there’s an error. Actually, this sounds related to https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/132720?replies=2 which involves another blog I moved to the same host and how its categories are still screwed up.

I’m happy to carry on that thread over there if you like.

Well, I don’t understand it, but here’s what happened since I posted this topic.

I decided to delete the files again and copying everything over. I managed to get to my home page, but when I went to my dashboard I was greeted with a message telling me my database was not current and that I needed to upgrade.

Huh?

Anyway, after I copied over all the NEW files and clicked on that upgrade link provided on that unexpected page and it said it was already upgraded.

Again, huh?

Anywho, the footer of my control panel tells me I’m now at v2.2.3, so I’m guessing all is well. And now going to transfer this blog to my new host, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

If anyone has information that might clear up what happened here, I’m sure it would help me and future readers with the same issue. ??

Well, looks like a couple of them do, but I believe those are the one (within the Blogging category) that I created after the move. As for updating the permalink structure, yes, but it was that way before hand. So before the move it was /%postname%/ and after the move I changed it to that as well.

Is that what you meant?

I could really use some help with this. Even though my categories show the number of posts for each category, the page you get when you click on the category doesn’t show the posts.

So I started reassigning categories to my posts, but quickly noticed that it doesn’t make any difference.

I’m at a loss as to what to do. Any advice is very much appreciated.

I just discovered this problem on one my blogs. I was trying to create a page and my guest blogger was the only one showing as an option as page author.

Once I edited MY profile (as admin), my name showed up just fine in the menu. All I did was add an initial to my last name.

I suppose using a plugin would be the backup here, but would prefer to use the existing code in my theme. Any suggestions?

For the record: apparently this had something to do with my host. They did something to reset the “zones” or something like that. Ever since, the problem hasn’t occurred.

Well, I’ve been trying it every now and then, and unfortunately, the change didn’t fix. I went to both versions of the URL and it still gave me the two messages I outlined above. ??
