You would have to set the hreflang tags via the metabox on both pages.

ie. https://www.selwood.at/ might point to https://www.selwood.at/spielturm/, but https://www.selwood.at/spielturm/ would also need to point back to https://www.selwood.at/.

I can see about separating location and language in a new version update.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I own and operate a web/app development company so things can get really hectic.

To answer your question, I think the validation too is complaining that the default (nl) tag is not being declared anywhere on your page.

Can you add:

<link rel="alternate" href="https://fabriziophotos.com/we-do-day-wedding-photography/" hreflang="nl"/>

to you nl-NL page and let me know if that fixes it?

No, you can use the plugin to add the self-referenced tag, the same way to do with the alternate tag. Just click the plus (+) sign next the first tag you added.

The testing tool is complaining about the lack of a self-referecing tag.

For example, on your english page, you have correctly added your tag pointing to your nl-NL page, but you lack the reference on your english page declaring it as en.

Here is how your EN page should be:

<link rel="alternate" href="https://fabriziophotos.com/day-van-angelina-en-richard-trouwreportages-rotterdam/" hreflang="nl-NL" />
<link rel="alternate" href="https://fabriziophotos.com/we-do-day-wedding-photography/" hreflang="en" />

and your nl-NL page:

<link rel="alternate" href="https://fabriziophotos.com/day-van-angelina-en-richard-trouwreportages-rotterdam/" hreflang="nl-NL" />
<link rel="alternate" href="https://fabriziophotos.com/we-do-day-wedding-photography/" hreflang="en" />
