Do I need the pro version to access custom css?
Or do I need to move the WP code out of my home folder so it it doesn’t load and bypass everything else – and so I can open it (where I moved it) from index.html in my home folder?
I keep jumping into Web coding then get occupied for months & when I try again I’ve forgotten things … nothing to do with age …

In reply to: Header MessOoops, sorry, WordPress 4.2.4 running Twenty Fourteen theme.
NOTE: I just observed that it’s the Category – Uncategorized that has the problem whereas Admin is fine.

In reply to: Link to Website in Sidebar for PC or Mobile DeviceIt may be the browser I’m using on my phone, NBpro, it emphasizes privacy and efficiency over appearance.
It works on my wife’s tablet, not on my laptop using Firefox(could be a cache thing) – but does in Seamonkey, not on my smartphone (could be the browser as mentioned), and not on my son’s laptop running Chrome.
Very odd – I suspect something in the security settings of the browsers …

In reply to: Link to Website in Sidebar for PC or Mobile DeviceOK, just went ahead and deactivated and uninstalled the jetpack Site Icon plugin and installed, activated, and generated the Favicon one … it appears to have worked … according to the app … but I don’t see anything on the Blog page when logged in as Admin.
I also tried logging out then just visiting the site and no evidence of a favicon viewed that way either.
I also don’t see anything on my smartphone.
Could it be that the default Twelve Fifteen theme doesn’t recognize a site icon/favicon?
Thanks!

In reply to: Link to Website in Sidebar for PC or Mobile DeviceI’ll check that out – but do you have any idea why the Jetpack Site Icon app may have failed?

In reply to: Link to Website in Sidebar for PC or Mobile DeviceExcellent, thanks!
I’ve also just tried t create a Site Icon via Jetpack but don’t see it as a favicon or anywhere else on the site.
Do you know offhand if the Twelve Fifteen default theme handles that?
I didn’t see a warning at any point …
And while I’m at it I read this …
… and wonder if you agree with their recommendations? Thanks again!

In reply to: Link to Website in Sidebar for PC or Mobile DeviceAm I asking this question incorrectly?
I tried to use HTML in the Tagline and it was not recognized as HTML.
Where might I put the link, please?

In reply to: Header black area?I looked in Support for help & it said the setting for Featured image was in Screen Options in the upper-right corner of my Dashboard – but not so:

In reply to: Header black area?Am I misunderstanding the layout; there is a Header image, a Background image, and a Featured image?
In Customize there are options to manage Header and Background images but not a Featured image.
Where, please, might I try turning off the Featured image?
That way I can experiment with the three to see what layout works best.
Once I’m comfortable with this I hope to add a couple of other blogs, one for Amateur Radio, one for Alternative Energy, & one for Current Events.
That is, of course, if I can make them play nicely together – this one is installed in a subdirectory & I read somewhere that may make additional blogs a problem. Sigh.
Thanks! David
