Thanks for your help, I got it fixed.

First to fix the ftp prompt, I had to add this code in wp-config

define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’);

Then, to fix the permissions, I had to change the owner, I ran:
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/site

This repaired everything, all is working well again!

Ok thanks, so do that for all 10 sites then? Let me give that a go!

Update, I did it for 2-3 sites so far and it’s finding between 30-250 files with issues. Should I use the “repair all files” feature, or “Delete all files” features? Not sure if the delete option will tear the site down or not.

Also how do I get to the root cause bc if I delete/repair the infected files, I assume they’ll get re-infected…

While I have you though, I edited that same post and centered the text on the page. On the homepage though, the text remains left aligned, but when I click on the the posts direct page link, it’s centered fine. Why is the homepage behaving this way for the post and not center aligning the text?

Yes, I know how to set it up as a subdomain, but that’s not what I’m aiming for. I’m trying to set up WP as a sub-directory, not a subdomain.

I got the site loading now from 18s to 3s. Thanks a lot for the help on here.

I reached out to the host provider and had them enable leverage browser caching and also enabled cookie free domain. All arrows were initially pointing to the theme, as I have 17/18 websites working fine on WP on the same server without any tweaks done on the server end.

Strange, I have about 15 websites hosted on the same shared server with Hostgator. 14 are blazing fast and this is the only one I’m having issues with. I never had to modify them either or install caching plugins, and they’re all running WordPress with different themes.

Hi Mike. I tried uploading a fresh batch of files but no luck unfortunately. I had a backup from the old host and tried reuploading those also, no luck. My only thoughts is to reinstall it from scratch and possibly try to clean up all of the old database records before doing so. What are your thoughts?
