• Sorry I realized I should say, so I just edited my response. But here is it again so you’ll see it.

This is withCustomizr’s Gallery.
You will see a checkbox for Random Order in the Gallery Settings interface.

So first start the Gallery by adding the images. Then you’ll set to the box where you choose how your Gallery will appear. That’s where the option is.

That feature has been there for about a year at least.
That is, if you mean using Customizr’s Gallery. You will see a checkbox for Random Order in the Gallery Settings interface.

@chinergie: Now the color makes sense! Good idea. Your site will definitely match what you do.
You wrote:
“Can I copy it and change the colour and put it into the CSS style sheet of my child theme?”

Yes, exactly, and if you don’t have the color of the logo from your original artwork, @darthtater was nice to discover and provide the color. (But always best to go back to original artwork if you can.)

@darthtater is providing more detailed code but I have not ever needed that. I have used this theme and my code on 4 or 5 websites and it has always worked. The site I copied that code from is now 3 or 4 years old. (TalesOfTravelAndTech.com) He added — !important — which forces code to override any other code that may conflict but I haven’t had such a need. Maybe if you alter your footer further you would need to add it.

In my own site, I had once added a font size to that footer code but that stopped working. Now I wonder if using !important would help me. I’ll play with that sometime.

Sorry, I can’t help anymore. If there is a child theme offered by customizr, it’s news to me.
All I know is making your own or using the amazing Childify plugin to make one easily.

If you mean this:
Image Performance (Photon)

I had issues when I started and Customizr support told me to turn that off because it was a problem with images. I turned it off and never had problems again.

I reduce my image sizes before uploading them but also use WP Smush. So far I have only used their free version. I can’t say whether it really speeds things up because I never did a speed test but I don’t have loading problems.

Hi @chinergie

I am confused by what you ask. The footer is the gray area. Your logo is in the header.

Here is what I did to change the footers on my sites. (You’d use your own color, of course.)

footer#footer {
background-color: #008881;
}

PS: I love your photos.

You said you “reinstalled the child theme (from the Customizr site)” but the Child is on your site, never from the Customizr site. Maybe yu meant you reinstalled Customizr or Customizr Pro?
Anyway… have you looked under Appearance->Themes to make sure your child theme is the active theme. I am thinking maybe you’ve reverted to having another theme as active. (It has happened to me. Momentary panic!)

Wow! I have been using the theme for 2 years and had no idea Pro was a stand-alone!
Thanks Denzel.

Hi Laurent
I don’t have that issue. My original date remains even upon update. (I just ran a test.) It may be because I don’t check the Update feature.

I see your search bar in Safari and Firefox on Macintosh.

My host got to the Pro file just fine though. And I have been updating from this same location for months.

This is not fully a function or issue of Customizr or any theme. It starts with cropping your photo in a photo editing software. You will have to make choices about what is in the photo and what is not. (In Photoshop you can set the crop tool preset to the dimensions of 1170×500 so as you drag the possible crop, you see what you’ll get and you’re certain to have the exact size.)

But… after the issue of doing your crop and putting it into Customizr, there is a 2nd issue — at least in the slider. Again, this is not the fault of Customizr and Customizr can’t really do anything about it. It’s a result of the amazing resizing that Customizr/WordPress does to accommodate so many devices. The issue is that at some sizes (computer/tablet/phone) a bit of the top or bottom will be cut off. So if you have heads at the very top of your 1170×500 crop, the heads will be cut at some time. So you should leave head space and foot space when you do that first crop. If you’re putting an image into the actual header of the page I assume you’ll have the same issue. I have never done this so I can’t say for sure.

I hope that helps.

I can’t advise you on the snippet but you can avoid the functions file this way:

Use an FTP app* to get to your WordPress files. Locate the Themes folder and your child theme’s folder. (You should absolutely be using a child theme.) Duplicate your functions file so you have a safe copy. (I’m not certain if it’s ok to keep it that same folder but I think I have.) I add the word SafeCopy to my original or duplicate.

This way, if your attempt fails, you can delete it and rename the functions file back to the original name and you’re back to where you started.

*I use Cyberduck which is good and it’s free, well donationware, <https://cyberduck.io> The website is a bit creepy or suspicious looking these days but I’ve been using the app for over 10 years.

Thank you to bhasic and Madalin for your replies.

My apologies for not replying and marking this resolved when I read bhasic’s post. The links provided told the story. I was in the middle of an event registration on a client’s site so I had to keep the current CContact Form DB up there. Now I have to decide.

I wish the WP directory people would let it back in.

deliciousthemes: I read your post. Flamingo doesn’t hold a candle (doesn’t compare) to Contact Form DB! It stores the emails send. Contact Form DB created an easily exported db that let us provide lists of event registrants in one minute.

Contact Form 7 is still good for some things, still ok on one of my sites, but not for this one site. ??

deliciousthemes: the post thread you sent… explains a lot. Sadly, as they closed it, we can’t all add that we want it back.

I can’t attach an image but that is what I thought you mean. Maybe I can clarify.

Look at the top of that post’s page, right below the black strip where WP says Howdy, right above “Layout Options” and you will see Screen Options. Click it to reveal and control what you see on the page. Uncheck Slider Options.

This will be for all posts.
If you want for pages, do the same on a page.

It may well be that the others who edit you site can go and turn it back on, but they won’t see it by default.
