You can use <i></i> tag in inside Accordion Description…but not inside accordion title. For the Accordion Title you have to use custom CSS code….It will apply on the whole title.

2 Column Layout takes that much space…and Space is looking due to Blue Background.
Here background blue color coming from your theme. It is not from plugin…you can remove it via CSS.
