Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the full-width option is only shown for pages and not posts, also when I set a page to full-width the side bar disappears but the blank white columns remain. My intention is to retain the side bar and make the site utilize the whole width to display.

Below I have highlighted the blank space i am referring to. Thanks in advance for the help.
