    @m4hd1bd

    Thanks!

One last thing and then I think I can stop bugging you awhile.

If I created 3 separate directories, say jobs, marketplace, and business directory, will each of these have their own specific category options along with the form fields?

And should there be a specific category for cities and/or states? If so, would those be specific to their respective directories or if somebody searched Texas, then stuff from all directories would show up in search results for texas?

Not sure what categories are overlapping or if they are all separate per directory.

So is there an option to restrict what user roles can post listings? If not, I can set the page to user restricted but I am concerned about directorist’s own pages with links to “create a listing” and then anyone can access it. Is there a restrictions option?

    Thanks again!

Thanks. I just removed the extras and kept it at 100.

That is perfect. That was clear and helpful. Thank you again!

Now, let me go see if I can pull it off DIY style. Thanks!

Thanks! I found that and changed the original job_type segment to remove remote, onsite, etc. and numbered them 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. And for the location selection I just removed the 0 from it so it did not reference 0 option above.

That seems to have worked out.

    Thank you!

I can set a drop down select field with multiple options, but is there a way to do bulk uploads instead of one option at a time?

Also, and more importantly, I decided to use the category field for the product categories. I have a LOT of them, 113. I used BulkPress to upload all of them to directorist categories section and that worked fine.

The issue is that on the page with the all categories shortcote, where all the categories show up in the little boxes with count, all of the categories are not actually showing up. It cuts off the last dozen or so and there is no pagination to get to the rest of the categories. Basically only 100 of the 113 show on the page. I need all 113 to show up and possibly to 115.

Is there an option to increase the category quantity somewhere or to make all of the ones show up?

    @dafe1984, @m4hd1bd

I don’t know (yet) if this would be useful for bulk category uploads to be used with Directorist but I currently have it working with PODS for more categories and subcategories.

It is two plugins called BulkPress and BulkPress Export. When installed, BulkPress gives you a “Terms” link that allows you to paste in a list of categories and select where that goes from a dropdown. The Export option can be found in the Tools menu and basically allows you to export any category list to a txt file.

This thing has been a godsend. I have a product/service category with 112 items and the idea of having to manually add those was nauseating. BulkPress saved the day.

So, you can use that and just select your preferred category in directorist, or the tag category.

While on the topic, I would be interested to know if there is a way to pull the taxonomies lists set up by PODS into Directorist for more category options in the form itself. I’m still figuring it out lol

    It is a membership site.

I have 3 member roles. Only one of those is what I would like to authorized to create new registrations for one of the other member roles, and have all the people that user has registered be assigned to that user.

I may not be able to accomplish this given wordpress registration set up so the next best thing is to register all member roles normally and then implement a groups option that allows the selected user to create their own group and assign or invite specific members to join it, and / or allow members to select their preferred group. This is basically setting up teams and team leaders within the register user base.

I am already using Ultimate Member to assign roles.

Maybe a better way to convey the question, after giving it some thought, is that I have Ultimate Member assigning membership roles, say free and premium, and group leader, and the group leaders are authorized to create a group and then assign other premium members into that group, or have premium members be able to join any specific group…or to have group leaders be able to register premium members into premium member roles and they are automatically assigned to that leader’s group.

That’s the gist of what I am trying to do. It seems default options above for permissions is too broad so maybe a group or team sort of thing that lets the leaders add members is what I am looking for.

Tried searching but everything coming up is basically how to make a page that displays groups, not to add or register the members and assign to groups.

    (@delanataylor)

Yes I am using UM to assign the roles and permissions. Only the premium members would be authorized to use the form to post listings, whether that can be done through Directorist to restrict who can use the form to that group or by using UM’s content restriction and setting the page to be accessible to that group only.

I’d like two specific directories, using several set categories. One is a business directory that would include industry and location and the other would be similar to a simple marketplace for products / services, price range, demographic, and a few others, but that does NOT require a shopping cart or payment gateways. It’s closer to a catalog than a cart.

It doesn’t let me edit now but here’s the short version.

    I have these required categories:

    Industry (job category)
    -finance
    -health & medical
    -hospitality, etc

    Employment Term (job type)
    -full time
    -part time
    –seasonal, etc

    Compensation
    -min wage
    -salary
    -commission, etc.

    Experience
    -Entry Level
    -Mid Level
    -Senior Level, etc.

    Upload Resume > upload pdf

I have used the two default categories, now I need to add these additional ones.

Where do I add them so the field or dropdown appears on the form?

Currently, in the dashboard sidebar, under Job Board, are two for job categories and job type. What do I need to add so these additional categories appear there too?

Where, specifically do I need to add it?

Where and how do I add a pdf upload option for resumes?

Please be clear. The vague explanations being added here do not give me much confidence this is a useful plugin, and certainly not enough to encourage me to buy anything if I can’t get the free version to do something basic.

    Thanks.

    @nsinelnikov

Can you elaborate on exactly how to do this?

I also need to add a category for compensation, with multiple salary options to be selected on the form.

    Compensation < main category
    entry level
    minimum wage
    salary, etc.

And one for Experience < main category
    0-2 years
    5-10 years, etc.

That link goes to a page with the absolute bare minimum of explanation. So what needs to be added or changed to add a new field, where does it need to be added, and where do we add the new categories for the new parent category?

    Thanks.

Can you clarify how to do the first one and also please clarify your answer on the second one because it is not clear. Thanks!

So on the profile form itself, when they click edit profile, there is a text area field for them to input their information. Not to be confused with a text field.

The text area is the big box like this one used to submit this post.

I have this option for them to create bios on their user profile instead of exclusively text fields.

In this text area, I’d like them to be able to insert a video link so they can include a video greeting in their profile bio section if they want to.

Except putting a direct link for a youtube video does not work, as was described above.

    So it’s the text area.

Here’s a sample membership role profile I have on my site to show visitors what their profile will look like per that member group

    https://www.ravesandreviews.com/reviewer/reviewer/

If they drop a youtube video link in that editor when they’re writing out their bio and hit save, I’d like a video to actually render and play. Right now it doesn’t show up at all. Adding the link through the insert media or insert video option in the editor works until you save it, then either the link itself shows up in the body or it’s a big blank spot.
