I use WordPress for my personal website and I am not expert. Please forgive my misunderstanding of the label function.

And thank you for noting the solution through the Rows function.

You are welcome @camillabw. You should follow the last instructions given above by the expert (@properlypurple) to hopefully reach a solution or identify the cause of the issue.

    ———

As a user for years, I’d generally recommend that you always:

    • Aim to use the least number of plugins, which will reduce the likelihood of errors, conflicts, and performance issues.
    • Avoid using two plugins for the same function. For example, use only one optimizer, one SEO solution, one security solution, one site builder…etc. I would keep RankMath SEO and remove the other SEO plugin because they will definitely conflict at some point.
    • Avoid any plugin that does not have a positive evaluation by WPHive, or expect issues.
    • Clean up your cache using a high-quality plugin such as LitespeedCache or WPRocket. These plugins are highly reliable and excellent for cleaning cache and optimizing all your website’s content.
    • Make sure you are not using a plugin that disables WP functions.

I’d also doubt about Elementor. I don’t say remove it (because you will lose your data there), but try to disable it for a moment, clean the cache, and see if the issue is resolved. Elementor usually does not cause such issues, but I’d want to ensure that it is not the cause of the problem.

I hope you will fix the issue soon.

    Regards,

    Hey camillabw

I am not from WordPress so please don’t take my word as consultation. You should follow the instructions of the WP moderators.

I just noticed that you are using so many plugins. The more plugins you install on your website, the more careful you must be. Some websites use +45 plugins without issues, but that would require careful observation. I personally prefer to stay under 17.

Before I install any plugin, I check the health of the plugin on WPHive (you can see through WPHive if a plugin has any general issues). For example, you use EWW Image Optimizer, which has some issues, according to WPHive. I would avoid any plugin that does not have an excellent WPHive report.

You mentioned that you have disabled all plugins, but it was not solved. Could you please again disable them, but this time also clean your website caches? I use Litespeed Cache to purge and clean everything. This will give some more refreshment to the environment you are working in.

Sometimes, even when I disable a plugin, it stays in the website’s environment and might still make some impact. Thus I’d recommend to delete a few plugins at least temporarily, and clean the cache. I have not seen the full list of your plugins, but I noticed that you use 2 different plugins for image compression function, and 2 plugins for SEO function. In my user opinion, you should have only 1 plugin for a specific function; otherwise, there is a chance for conflict and errors.

Sorry if this was not a solution. I am not an expert, I just expect that some plugin causes the issue for you, or two plugins are conflicting.

You should follow the instructions of WP moderators for the proper solution.

Thank you for the instructions! I have never known about the console. Good to know! There seem to be a few issues that I must resolve on my website.

I followed the steps and as I clicked ‘Install’ I got this error message (please see the arrow).

I expanded it, here are the details.

    Again thank you @properlypurple!

Hey @properlypurple! Thank you for the response!

All value are set to Writable in the Filesystem Permissions.

Unfortunately, uploading the font manually gives the same error message.

I can add an Adobe font to my website through CSS and embedding the font code, but the retrieving requests to Adobe servers make a performance impact on the website loading speed. I will use it as a last solution but I hope I will be able to host a Google font locally.

    Any potential reasons please?

    Totally agree!!

I think only you can mark this thread as solved. See ‘status’ on the right side.

Thank you very much for noting it to the development team!!

I will close this thread and hope there will be easier integration solution for Adobe fonts.

@properlypurple I had never known about this option, I am glad it is there! and thank you for the tutorial!

Unfortunately, this method does not work with Adobe Fonts because they cannot be uploaded as a file. I have learned that Adobe accepts the use of their fonts only through their CSS code (otherwise the font owners won’t earn revenue and could file a complaint).

I tried also the plugins, but they don’t support retrieving the Adobe Font to the Gutenberg builder. They work only if I use external site builders such as Astra and Elementor.

I will make a few more attempts to see how the Adobe fonts can be retrieved to Gutenberg blocks using CSS. Otherwise, Google Fonts will be okay in the end.

Thank you very much for letting me know that it needs more work than what is instructed by Adobe. I highly appreciate the information provided by you, which brings me closer to my goal.

I am afraid the article is not clear enough to follow up, because I am a beginner in coding. If I understand the article correctly, I must copy THIS code into the Theme.json file. But I am not sure about two things:

    1. What to change in the code before pasting it into my theme.json editor?
    2. Where to paste the code in the theme.json? in the beginning of the editor? or it must be somewhere in-between the lines?

Thank you in advance for any tips or more tutorial links!

    I’m glad it is solved!

I think that being set to ‘nothing’ is just the same as being set to ‘homepage’. Nothing would change on your website if you empty the field.

Have you tried clicking the ‘x’ symbol next to field you are trying to empty?

I am not from WP support, and I am not sure if I understood your question as you intended.

In my dashboard, for all pages, the page parent is not set to anything (empty), which means they are all parented by the (homepage) by default, and I can add levels under the home page.

The homepage is the top-level page of any website. And you cannot have two homepages for one website domain.

In case you don’t like your current homepage anymore and want to replace it with another page, I don’t know how, and you don’t have to do this in the first place.

    I am not a developer.

I think you should ask your question in a CSS support community, like on Reddit or somewhere else.
