  • Hi @thikoneres2016. Thanks for submitting a review and I’m sorry to hear about the poor experiences you initially had with our plugin. We’ve been slow to respond because we are short-staffed to keep up with all activity in the community but we do care about difficulties you had and want to make it a great plugin.

It’s true that many subsequent versions have been released since your review was submitted. Have you gotten a chance to try it again recently? I’d be interested in hearing what your thoughts are and especially about areas that you still think it should be improved in.

Regarding the original three things you reported:

    1. Missing content
    2. Manual update in order to deliver old posts
    3. Conflicts with special characters

#1: Missing content is almost always due to missing Transformer Rules. Although this could still be happening if you have custom content which rules don’t exist for yet, however, we and the community have also added more built-in rules which hopefully avoids stripping out content unexpectedly.

#2: Could you elaborate on this point? Best interpretation is that you are required to manually go back to old post (which already existed before installing the plugin) and update manually in order for their content to be pushed to Instant Articles.

#3: There was a “special character” issue (#116 on GitHub) fixed and released in v2.9. Perhaps this was the same as the issue you reported?

Thanks again for sharing your experience so far and we hope we can improve things for you as soon as possible.

    Paulo

Hi @eresdev. Thanks for submitting a review. We’ve been slow to respond because we are short-staffed to keep up with all activity in the community but we do care about difficulties people have with the plugin.

Could I ask you to elaborate on the things you find obnoxious with the plugin and also how it harmed your blog? If there was a bug causing issues, it’s definitely something we will look to fix for you.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts so far and I hope there is something we can do to help improve the sentiments you have towards this plugin for Instant Articles.

Hi @portalshops. Thanks for submitting a review. We’ve been slow to respond because we are short-staffed to keep up with all activity in the community but we do care about difficulties you are having and we’ll try our best to resolve issues that may be caused by our plugin.

This warning message you received comes from the Apache log4php logging framework which our plugin uses. More specifically, line 22 of the LoggerAutoloader.php file.

It is obviously conflicting with something else in your WordPress installation. Perhaps another plugin? It might be difficult to track exactly what other part of your WordPress environment is causing the conflict.

Can you tell me a little more about your WordPress installation environment?

    1. Is it installed on a shared environment?
    2. How many other plugins do you have installed?
    3. Are you able to disable error and warning messages?

I think we could actually solve this problem based on your answer to #3 above. The reason is: this is purely a warning message. Most production environments have warning/error messages disabled so this could safely be occurring and the plugin would still likely work if the message isn’t showing. There is an interesting discussion around this being “just a warning message” here. Let me know what you think.

Thanks again for sharing your experience so far and we hope we can improve things for you as soon as possible.

Hi @sushant0077. I’m so sorry to hear that upgrading the plugin caused some problems. We’ve been slow to respond because we are short-staffed to keep up with all activity in the community but we do care about difficulties you are having and we’ll try our best to resolve your issues.

Is Facebook IA still not reading the feed from your site?

Can you do me a favor and check if there are any warnings or error messages in the “Configuration” of your RSS Feed (under the “Publishing Tools” section of your Facebook Page)?

Thanks again for sharing your experience so far and we hope we can improve things for you as soon as possible.

Hi @leftofcentre. Thanks for submitting a review and I’m sorry to hear about the poor experiences you’ve had with our plugin. We’ve been slow to respond because we are short-staffed to keep up with all activity in the community but we do care about difficulties you are having and we’ll try our best to resolve your issues.

Can you share a little more information about what types of things you had trouble with or didn’t work?

It’s possible the version of the plugin you have didn’t have the new Setup Wizard which is included in the latest version. If you can let me know the version of the plugin you have, I can double check for you.

Thanks again for sharing your experience so far and we hope we can improve things for you as soon as possible.

Can you share a little more specifics about the bugs you experienced? This way, we can try to resolve them for you and/or let you know of fixes that already exist.

Hi @tmt2012. I just wanted to inform you that there has been an update to the plugin since your review to allow changing the connected Facebook App. If you update to the latest version of the plugin, there should be an icon of a pencil to the right of the App ID. Clicking that allow you to input a new App ID.

Changing the App connected to the WordPress Plugin

For more details, see the Quickstart Guide for the WordPress plugin.

    Hope that helps!

Hi @minneyar. Thanks for submitting feedback and I’m sorry to hear about your poor experiences with our plugin. We do care about improving the plugin and we’ll try our best to resolve your issue.

What is the version of the plugin that you have? The reason I ask is because I have seen a similar behaviour reported on GitHub here and am wondering if it’s related.

If it is the same issue, I’m happy to say that we’ve created a fix which will be included in the next release of the plugin.

Hi @dipakbbsr. Thanks for submitting feedback and I’m sorry to hear about your poor experiences with our plugin. We do care about improving the plugin and we’ll try our best to resolve your issue.

Could I ask you to provide more information about the error that occurred? You mention that there wasn’t “brief descriptions” but perhaps there is an error message which you can include in your response? That would help us to find a solution to the problem.

    Thanks!

Hi @spidermanph. We appreciate the feedback and details about the problem you experienced and I’m sorry to hear about the poor experience with our plugin.

The error message indicates that the original Facebook App you configured with your WordPress Plugin was deleted. Unfortunately, this was an edge case which the latest version of the plugin didn’t account for but we’ve implemented a fix which will be included with the next version of the plugin.

Alternatively, if you are able to access the “All Settings” page for your WordPress installation (located at /wp-admin/options.php of your installation), find all the options which begin with instant-articles-option- and clear them out (don’t forget to click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom). This will force the plugin to revert to it’s initial state when you first installed it.

Hi @swang41. Thanks for submitting feedback.

Can I ask what version of the plugin are you using? I’m asking because I have seen a similar behaviour reported on GitHub here and am wondering if it’s related.

When you say “stuck in the first step”, is the page blank or are you stuck on the step with the blue “Login with Facebook” button upon returning from Facebook.com?

@jattjamesbond, just dropping a note that v3.1.3 is out and available for download. Upgrading the plugin to the latest version should resolve the problem!

Would you mind replying if you find this isn’t the case?

Hello Aniket. Can you share a little more about the types of problems you were having? Perhaps what your blog(s) are?

I know you submitted your review a while back, but we do want to get down to the bottom of what you had trouble with.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
