Thanks, Edvard. I used your live chat as you suggested. It turns out the problem is NOT with your plugin. Lena was able to point me in the right direction.
Your support was quick, accurate, and painless. Bravo!

In reply to: [Print, PDF, Email by PrintFriendly] Formatting bug in v3.3.3?Thanks, printfriendly!
I just upgraded to WP 3.8 and PrintFriendly 3.3.5. The formatting problem was still there before I made the change to “Content Algorithm”. When I made that change, the page now formats properly.
Sorry for the slow response… Illness, vacation, and then the holidays…

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Disqus messed up by CloudflareI think we have found a solution. We won’t know for sure until we hit the next spike in visits, which will happen next week after the 4th of July holiday weekend.
We compared the software stack running at HostGator and on the local host. Partly based on a recent post by Joost de Valk (https://yoast.com/mea-culpa-on-a-bad-update-lessons-learned/), we noticed that HostGator was still running PHP 5.2, while the local server is running 5.3. HostGator provides 5.3 via a mod to .htaccess. When we updated the site to 5.3 and reenabled Disqus, everything started working again.
I hope this helps somebody … I’m glad we got to a reasonable solution.

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Disqus messed up by CloudflareI’m also having a similar problem. Site is hosted at HostGator on a shared server. CloudFlare is on. With Disqus on, we get an intermittent problem that some pages don’t load completely. When we turn Disqus off, we can’t find a page that doesn’t load properly.
Problem started Sunday, 6/23. That was shortly after a rather major change to the site, though, so we didn’t tie it to Disqus until today.
We migrated the site to a simple Linux box. So no CloudFlare and a nearly unloaded (but small) server. This alternate site works fine with Disqus on.
So I agree that it is a Disqus problem. But it is complicated by CloudFlare and/or shared hosting under medium traffic.
I have sent email to Disqus support. Waiting for a response. I’ll post if I learn more.
We found a way to fix these, but it wasn’t simple. We ended up using phpMyAdmin to find the places in the database that hold the data that says “these images are attached to this post”, then fixed the URLs that were broken.
It was faster than deleting images and uploading them again.

In reply to: [ShortCodes UI] 1.9.2 broken, showing shortcodes as textThanks for the link, Jon. Rolling back to 1.9.1 fixed our problems too.
And +1 about this being more than a x.x.1 to x.x.2 upgrade. ??

In reply to: [ShortCodes UI] 1.9.2 not workingSame here. I’m reverting back to 1.9.1 for now.
Simple snippets display the shortcode itself, not it’s expansion. e.g. [my-shortcode]

In reply to: [BotBlocker] [Plugin: BotBlocker] flagging *all* comments as spamSame here…
For the developer… Here’s a link to a page on a test site.
https://sandbox.expertwebsupport.com/builder/2013/01/lorem-ipsum/While not logged in, attempt to submit a comment. You’ll get the “Spam bot detected” error page.
Config of BotBlocker is the default. Config of Settings > Discussion is “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail “
Any suggestions? In current state, the plugin is unusable.

In reply to: appearance > widgets is missingReviewing the problem:
SCUI 1.8.6 works on WP 3.4.2 and WP 3.5.
SCUI 1.8.8 does not show simple snippets in WP 3.4.2 or WP 3.5.
I notice that you just released 1.8.9. Does that fix the problem?
Should I upgrade to 1.8.9, go the settings screen, save changes, and see if simple snippets work? I’ll try that.
More info…
On site #2, I just updated WP to 3.5. I tried updating SCUI to 1.8.8, but simple snippets disappeared again. I reinstalled 1.8.6 and simple snippets work properly.
More info…
On site #2, I reverted back to v1.8.7, and the problem was still there. I went back to v1.8.6 and the problem was gone. So whatever is going on is new in .7 and .8.
On site #1, I changed the “type” from Simple Snippet to Advanced Shortcode and the problem went away. That’s still using v1.8.8.
So I have a work-around. I hope the additional info helps figure out what the real problem is.
More info…
I have another site that uses ShortCodes UI for similar reasons. On that site, I did not do a deactivate & reactivate sequence. I think the only change was an upgrade to SCUI v 1.8.8. I’m going to try reverting both sites to a prior version and see if that fixes either site.I’ve made a few debugging attempts. Here’s a bit more info.
Advanced Shortcodes are all working. So, the ShortCodes UI plugin is installed and active and working.
I put additional text around the Simple Snippets to make sure that the snippets were being seen. The pre- and post- text appeared, but not the snippet text.
I’m running WP 3.4.2. SC UI 1.8.8.
iThemes Builder (3.4.?) as the platform theme, with a highly customized child theme based on their Foundation- Blank.New Yarpp user. New installation. Got the same symptom (“No related posts.”) after initial install.
Based on this thread, I tweaked the match threshhold, and it all started working.
It looks like this version does need a “kick” to get started.
