The stylesheet was indeed minified (automatically) so it would load faster. You can easily uncompress it with a tool called “Beautify css” just google it, there are hundreds out there.
However like the others said it wouldn’t be the best solution to edit the theme’s stylesheet because with the next update the stylesheet will be overwritten and then you’ll have to edit it again.
