Please, if any one is monitoring this forum, I really need help on this one. It appears that this is a remnant in background manager from a previous version of the background that has not refreshed when I changed the settings (though I could be wrong). When the site is opening and loading, a different background color than what I have selected in background manager is displaying. It is a total non match for the site and I need to clean this up. Please help.

In as much as I have gotten no responses, I am assuming that this is not possible. Also from another post that I did get an answer to about changing the bar above and below the navigation, using custom art lines does not seem to be compatible with many browsers.

Thank you for such a complete answer – exactly what I needed! I have advised my client accordingly and hope she stays with the line as this looks like it might be opening a pandora’s box when it doesn’t work in all browsers.

Duh – I got it – changed it to
margin: 0 20px 0 20px;
margin: 0 1.42855rem 0 1.42855rem;

So split the margin between right and left

Thanks Senff – I tried that (comment them out) and have left it so you can see it with that change. It appears that it did center the text but not the links are all strung together with no spaces between them. Any idea how to correct that>

I am having more problems than just the API code – I was able to get on by following the directions on another post – but when I click Save Google API Key nothing happens. And Customize is not showing up in Appearance. It does show up in the dropdown from the site (as in your video) but when I try to change a font nothing changes. I did totally uninstall and reinstall but that did not help. I would really appreciate help getting this plug in to work on my site as it is the last step to getting this completed.

Ended up using PlugNEdit – have a problem with the menus displaying under the content of the page – but I got closer

FYI – I did get back to where all is correct and am having a better time figuring out child themes. I did find a splash page plug in that might work for my needs.

There is something really buggered here so I am going to have my host try to restore the files – if that fails, I will clear the installation and start over -I’m not that far into this project. Thanks for your help – I am a lot further into this than I was this morning!

Just cleared the caches on the browser – not sure how to do that on the site

Child theme is in the same directory as twentytwelve.

I tried it in another browser on another computer and get the same results

because the child is not showing up in the manage themes!

OK – that was weird – the site was showing twentyeleven though twentytwelve was selected. The look of the site was correct as twentytwelve and now is showing twentytwelve.

Now I have restored everything including putting the child folder back and the custom templates are not show up.
