I have experienced this same issue. I found this article on WP Tavern which explains the problem is a bug in Chrome. I disabled Slimming Paint at chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint and that took care of it for me.

Love the plugin so far, but it is useless to me until this same issue is fixed. I can quickly fix it myself by added a style of background-size: contain so that the whole image width is viewable, but there are no body classes to assign CSS to! A fix would be
A) add a body class to allow edits
B) add a section for custom CSS or
C) let us select a background size

Hope to get this resolved ??
