Ah hah!
I was puzzled initially why my attributes were not saving which caused me to search far and wide for other approaches, but as it turns out I had them defined in the wrong place (or the wrong structure anyways, I had added them to the block.json — moving them to the register_block_type and simplifying things solved the issue). Back in business now.
Thank you so much @threadi for taking the time to answer!!
Cheers!
Marking as resolved for now to investigate later. 404 module seems to be the cause, just not sure why it was triggering so easily.
Hello @timothyblynjacobs
Since updating WordPress to 5.6 and subsequently testing, things were fine initially. Then I noticed pagespeed insights getting blocked on a second test and all tests after that, then tested on another computer and it got locked out. As well on a vpn.
Disabling iThemes Security and all were fine again. I do not have too much info past that at this point.

In reply to: WordPress 5.6 removed “An active PHP session was detected”Sorry, going to mark this as resolved for now as I think it just hadn’t been triggered yet. It’s a clone of a site, and while I’ve been using it for a bit, it wasn’t until I deactivated and activated another plugin that the session error is now back.
I had reviewed the WordPress files and didn’t notice a change to get_test_php_sessions behaviour either, so I was puzzled a bit. Thanks for your speedy response! ??
Are you running WordPress 5.6? I am also getting 403’s after updating to 5.6. Hopefully there is a plugin update coming soon that is tested with 5.6.
