Found out I used the wrong name for the .po and .mo files.

Maybe the approval message to new registrants could also be send direct on approval of the admin.

I thought the shortcodes in the explanation were an exampe, so I used my own fields to personalize the emailmessages. The suggested codes are working fine.

I have another question.
Is there a way for the admin to approve new registrants by confirmation-link without login to WordPress? So I can leave it to the administration-people to approve without the knowledge of WordPress.

There are 3 emails. This is what I filled in.
Registration Message Body: Dear [Voornaam]. “Voornaam” is the fieldname of the prename.
Admin Approval Message Body: Dear [Voornaam]. This is your username: [username]. This is your password: [password].
New Registration Email to Admin: There is a new registration of: [Voornaam] [Achternaam]. “Achternaam” is the fieldname of the surname.
