Paid Memberships Pro.

Excellent plugin. Does everything I need (and more) and great support. Great for people with the knowledge to code and set it up themselves, totally free in that regard and for those that require specialist coding and support there′s a very reasonable fee option.

I tried S2 and PMpro, and definitely preferred PMpro as it is more user friendly and free for my use. I was easily able to set up a trial period for new members without them having to give any payment details, then after the trial period they are asked to pay a subscription, only then do they have to give payment details. Perfect!

Isn′t there a plugin that deals with this? I′d really like to automate it, if possible.

I ticked the “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” and it seems to have stopped these spammy posts for the time being.

I′m still wondering if there is a way to permanently stop comments being made though, these robots seem to be too clever for me. lol.

Any way of resolving this?

Seems strange that clients receive the emails direct from my email program, but not when WordPress sends emails automatically (from the same email address).

Can you update on how to change the timing please? To change this message so it goes out once, the day before expiry.

What′s confusing is that many of these members have been mailed by me before, and they always receive my emails without problem. It′s only when WordPress are sending the emails automatically that they are going to the members SPAM.

I hear what you are saying about setting up a Gmail account, but why would mails sent by WordPress go to Spam when mails from my email account direct are not going to SPAM. It′s like WordPress is being penalized? Of course, I am using the exact same email address from my email account, and within WordPress installation.

Regarding the timing – For example, the “expiration” emails I want to go out only once, the day before actual expiry… it wasn′t that I wanted them to go at a specific time.

I want to stop some of them, but not all of them.

Yeh, spammy for sure. Looks like they are being done by a robot.

There must be a way to stop all new comments posting, isn′t there?

Can anyone advise on this? 5 comments posted only this morning, 20 or so over the weekend. How are comments being posted to pending when they are turned off?

I found a solution to log the IP of the user signing up, so at least I can manually check this and then deactivate them if I see an issue. Fine for the moment as there are not that many people signing up, but if it got busier, I′d like it to be automated as possible.

Thanks for your reply. It seems the s2members plugin only does this with the paid version. (IE: to be able to access without payment details for the first 7 days, and only then charge and get the payment details).

Is there any free plugin that will do it?

Just wanted to follow up – I can see quite a few spam protectors, but that′s not relevant in my case as this is generally a person using a valid email address, someone who can fill in captchas manually etc.

Anyone help with a solution to log IP addresses, or any other ideas?
